Pioneer AVH-3200DVD

Featured Replies

Would just like some help with this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-AVH-3200DVD-Double-Widescreen-Headunit/dp/B00381MDX0

I'm looking at this to replace my stream unit, 1st off, does anyone have one of these so they can let me know what it's like?

And secondly, the unit is very square, whereas the stream unit has angled sides, where can I get either a new silver trim piece or trim extension pieces to cover what is bound to be a big ugly hole around the new unit?

Thanks

I have one of these in my Fabia vRS.

I think its fantastic. It's easy to use and the colour customisation is a great addition.

I chose this over a 7 inch screen as it had all the features like usb on the front. I use a mini usb stick so its never in the way http://www.amazon.co.uk/Verbatim-44049-Micro-Drive-Black/dp/B0030M5NFC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=computers&qid=1292451211&sr=8-1

The sd card slot is great also. I recently went to a zoo with my girlfriend and we could have a slide show of the photos we took.

The screen itself is good quality and shows the movies well without getting any glare

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow for you if you like.

is this the sort of facia you need? http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCTAVIA-PLAYER-FASCIA-SURROUND-FITTING/dp/B003JIJZCE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1292451384&sr=8-1

if not it might be worth checking with a skoda dealer.

I hope this helps

Charlie

pics would be great :D

i looked at that surround as well, could you give me the height and width of the unit so i can do a rough measurement of what i have now, that surround looks like it may be designed for single din units only...

Sorry for the delay.

Here's a quick pic of it in the car. Its dark and snowing so didn't want to be out too long

i'm still waiting for it to arrive :(

seems like it got delayed in the snow...

i'm still chasing them, when it arrives and i install it i'll let you know what i think

i have the black plastic trim, if you still require it, as i have just taken a pioneer unit out of my vrs and replaced it with a timelesslong 7501, i was'nt happy with a aftermarket unit, as i reckon it spoils the look of the dash too much, but hey, each to their own ! here is a photo of my old unit with black surround...

pm me if you want to buy the surround

thanks for the offer studmuffin but i have a surround

i have installed the head unit and it all works good, with 1 exception

i cant get it to switch off when the key is removed...it seems that both live wires are permenantly live, i cant find a live that runs from the ignition

i have posted a topic here about it:

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/185734-problem-with-new-head-unit/

it has been suggested that i'll need to run a lead from the fusebox to the head unit, is this the only solution? or is there another way?

i'm not too sure how i would even go about doing this...i welcome any ideas

thanks

noone with any ideas? :'(

Simples - just swap the red and yellow wires around on the ISO unit. So red to yellow and yellow to red on the ISO unit.

  • Author

doesn't work

both wires seem to be permenant live :/

:wonder: Do you have a tester?

Red to Yellow and Yellow to Red is usually the way to sort that out.

i will have to dig out the multimeter and check

i know you're right, that's how it should be, but both combinations left the radio on without the key :/ (it will switch on as soon as i plug the cables in the back)

hi,

sorry for the long delay, i have been away,

when i had my pioneer unit in my previous car, {which was a vectra} i had the same problem, i had to switch the unit off manually, i also had the same problem in my vrs. when i had my vectra, i was going to run a wire from the cigar lighter, {which is switched live} to the unit, but never got round to doing it as i got rid of the car, dont know if it would work in yours, easy way to test is, if the cigar lighter only works when ign on, then you can take switched live from there.

  • Author

well the thing is the stream unit i took out would switch off when the key was removed, so there must be a switched live there somewhere :/

i can live with this for now, when it gets a bit warmer i'll go out and have a play

EDIT: ciggy lighter is a good call though, I'll check that one out now, if it is switched then it's not a massive problem to run a wire from there.. cheers

all oem fitted stuff, like stream, bolero, etc, etc, will switch off when key is removed, it's because they all link up with the cars canbus system

Dark_Hero did you need anything to install this in your VRS? Like a fascia adapter or wiring adapter?

I'm thinking of getting this or the BT model but am not sure if I need anything else to install it!

i bought this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCTAVIA-PLAYER-FASCIA-SURROUND-FITTING/dp/B003JIJZCE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1292451384&sr=8-1

and just cut out the middle, fits fine, although i might take it out again when it's a bit warmer and try to modify it a bit more, since the unit sits flush at the top but sticks out maybe 1cm at the bottom, so i'll take it out and try to sort this

as for cable adaptors, go down halfords, it's where i got mine from.
