felicia L&K gone to the car graveyard :(

Featured Replies

hey guys

My first car, skoda felicia lauren & klement 1.6 estate was a fantastic car, but I gave it to my sister for her first car because I had just got an octavia.

Anyway a year on we scrapped the car because our garage couldn't fix it :(

We never did find out what caused it to stop working..

The problem started in the summer, the engine would just cut out whilst driving, with no idication of anything being wrong. Just would stop running quickly no judders or anything...

It couldn't be started again until the engine had cooled down from operating temp to barely off the stop.

Then it would fire up no problem and run nicely, not rough at all.

Then once it started to get warm it died again, and refused to start.

After being recovered by the AA several times, (who sent out a totally useless local recovery???!!!! ) the car no longer started.

The battery was fine, starter motor was engaging and turning the engine over, the fuel was getting through, it still had spark. - the dizzy cap and the coil was replaced to no avail.

We switched the Immobilser off, and reset the ecu, still no luck.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could have been?

I wanted the car back to try and fix, but had nowhere to put it :(

so it got scrapped and she's driving a 53 plate nissan micra about :) - really nice btw.

crank sensor (which is the distributer on the 1.6) by the sounds of it, I have seen them fail so that they will run when cold and also give a weak enough signal to trigger the ecu when cranking but not enough to let it start (signal drops away as the engine speed increases)

I'm guessing a fuel problem. The ecu output for the mixture setting perhaps??

The engine runs "rich" until it warms up and then the ecu should "lean" out the mix; I am guessing something broke or got clogged.

But HEY!! I am no expert. Anyone else care to have a punt??

Id agree with that,

what happened with mine is, the little plastic peg that rotates inside all this broke off, and so the car just stopped working as i was going along, tried starting it several times and nothing, left it an hour or so, went back tried several times again and away it went,

then a week or so later it done it again, so took it to garage and they discovered the broken peg, it has obviously jammed again causing it to run of for the week or so

£10 for second hand distributer from scrap seat Ibiza and i was on the road again

Whereabouts is it now? did it go scrap or get sold on?

Alex

i would say a dizzy problem too, i allways keep a spare one in my pickup because it is so common for them to break

its gone to scrap, if you want some felicia L&K bits hurry lol.

A scrapyard in Kent, called reclamet.

I was going to offer the seats, alloys, doorcars, etc on here at the time, but I had nowhere to keep the car :(
