Ivor's been playing in the snow

Awwwwww :giggle:

Excellent :-)   Mine got it's first real taste of snow today - Cardiff has just had a heavy dump of the stuff. Most of the city centre was therefore completely gridlocked.

Once I got out of the queue and closer to home I could really tell the benefit of the winter tyres - going up a moderate hill I noticed that the Merc behind me had almost completely stopped, and was slewing gently across the road...  Various vans and small hatches spinning their wheels frantically in the side streets where it's drifted a bit more.  The Yeti just trotted home without any bother.

I'm currently running normal-width 225 Dunlop Wintersports (compared to a lot of people here who went for narrower tyres), and can say that they seem absolutely fine. Maybe the narrower tyre might give a fraction more grip by virtue of the increased contact pressure - but I am 100% happy with the traction and (more importantly) stopping power that I've got in these conditions. I plowed through a heavily snowed-in car park with no bother whatsoever.

Only problem is that I can't claim to be "snowed in" and unable to get to work... :-)

Call that snow?!?

Thanks for the info G&T, we were supposed to be coming down to Cardiff tomorrow, but decided it might not be a good idea! Grandchildren will have to wait for their presents.

No..............................THIS is snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had to retrieve student son from Swansea today. Drove down from the midlands and took A465, bad choice, onto A470,even worse choice. Back to A465, okay for a while but got blocked near some village beginning with H. Went through said village...somehow.

That was the worst off it, although M4 through Cardiff on the way back was interesting.

Two wheel drive and standard fat tyres got me there and back, took nine and a half hours though...

Seats are comfy.

Have you got the heated seats option?? ;)

No, to mean.

Didn't miss them though.

We are still planning on visiting Scotland, but will not leave until monday now, to see what the weather will be like. swimbo has no sense of adventureemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Elsie has been giving me plenty of fun in Surrey today, going where no car would go, overtaking morons doing 10mph down clear roads.....Winter tyres are brilliant.

I wonder what weather tomorrow will bring us....where can I go for a drive? in 10 inches of snow?emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Whenever we get snow, I can't get out of my drive - sooooo many cars parked in the middle of my road: Everybody backed up from Purley trying to exit south london.emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Wow, we've had a lot of snow!

We had a good dump of snow in Warwickshire today which was unexpected so had to take the monster out for a play and play we did up and down the hills with just the off road button pressed I was surprised where I could get up and even better going down. I haven't got snow tyres. Got a lot of odd looks from 4+4 drivers I think they were waiting for me to get stuck, no chance .

Just been out to "test" the capabilities of yeti pretty pleased and the mrs wanted to see what it could do so we both had a bit of fun on new White snow, in around town and around an off road area.

Now have a more confidence would like try a steeper hill and see how it goes.

Rockhopper which bit of Scotland you heading too?

Nice you should get another chance to test the Yeti in the snow :-)

As long as there are no problems en route :-)

Old Git loves his garage. Roads here were untreated and treacherous.

Had to go to local town 10 miles away and it was fun on those Dunlops

Elsie has been out playing today. 473 miles in 8 1/4 hours driving time.

We are now safe & sound up in Scotland. Had a great drive up.

Really impressed with comfort. My old Octy would leave me crippled after 2 hours. Elsie on the other hand kept me fresh. My back was fine after the first 3 1/2 hours and 180 miles. I was pleasantly surprised. She also cruises more quietly than my old Octy as well. I was still fine after the 8 1/4 hours in the driving seat.

That's good Mike, we don't want you incapacitated and unable to drive Elsie
