What options would you specify?

Featured Replies

OK, after reply to the "would you buy another" thread, i started thinking what options i`d have put on my car if i were buying it new. I`m not talking everything, just for the sake of it, but what i could justify against cost. Poll added, discuss

Matt

Prices from parkers

ESP - never had it, but can see its benefits based on videos/ demos. If it saves my life/prevents a crash it's worth it!

Xenons - got them now - and don't really want a car without them if possible.

Maxidot/satnav - always liked the idea and would make the car a bit unique.

CC can be retrofitted if really wanted, CD changer - got one, never use it, sunroof - in the UK? Why bother! Airbag switch - no need to turn it off, side air bags -would consider them, but not sure if I'd bother, heated seats - doubt I'd ever use them, 3rd headrest - it's a Fabia, the 3rd seat is useless!

Mine was a factory order, I specified Xenons, ESP & Black. On reflection I should have added Heated seats and 3rd headrest!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it?emoticon-0105-wink.gif

Just to add, If you specified satnav you also had to add a multiplayer! So that's over £2k, Hardly a bargain when the list price of the car was about £12k.

I'd love reverse sensors. only thing i want on the list is xenons

wasn't aware esp and the airbag swith was an extra. Bonus! hehe

I spec'd; Xenons, cruise control and cd changer but haggled and only 'paid' for the xenons!

Would have liked rear paking sensors though.

Would have got the xenons for definate!

Xenons would be a must. At £125 can you really say no to cruise control? I like the idea of the maxidot, but having to pay £1800 for it and get a sat nav that will be pretty crap compared to Tom tom and will need expensive disk updates for the maps would be a turn off. CD changer - I'm already using a Hard disk full of MP3's with an aftermarket stereo that can hold far more than a CD changer (even if the CD changer could handle MP3's) so it would seem a backward step to me.

If I had the choice it would be the Xenons, oh - and leather.

If I was to get another Mk1, then it would be a vRS SE, with Xenons. I want to know how much better they are compared to halogens.

If ESP was much cheaper, (£250 or less) then, I may go for that.

Everything !

Well, I paid for CC to be retro fitted.. so that's a yes on that one, lol!

I also ticked Xenons.. and Heated seats becuase I had them in my elegance and in this kinda weather they're soooooooooo nice when you 1st get in the cold car, keep you warm before the heater kicks in...

Thanks to someone else, my car has heated seats, ESP, Xenons, side airbags, 6CD changer, cruise control and parking sensors + aftermarket tuning mods.

The CD player I've never used and yet I've had them in the 4 previous cars I've owned. Old technology?

The heated seats, I thought were a bit OTT, but now I think they are great, (but missus won't use hers).

ESP, why isn't it standard? I couldn't live without that little yellow dash light winking at me constantly.

Cruise control, wouldn't be without it. I can go for weeks without using it, but it's a boon on long motorway journeys when I want to relax and stay legal.

Side airbags, they are there, which I think is a +, just hope that I never get to test their effectiveness.

Xenons, previous owner made a big fuss about the car having these - why? Maybe I'd know if I drove a lot at night, although when driving in the dark I have noticed that

other motorists tend to be a bit wary of a set of Xenons approaching at high speed.

Parking sensors, I like. I have commented on another thread. Someone on that thread says that they ara a dealer fit, so really aftermarket?

One extra not mentioned, heated windscreen. Years ago I bought a Mondeo Ghia for a song (I know! - temporary measure) and it had one fitted. IMO (getting the hang of this now), it's one of the best and most useful extras, especially in the UK.

Having an SE, my options are rather limited...

However, I'd love to add oem xenons if the option was available B)

Forgot to say - Satnag? No. I travel all over Europe as far as Turkey and I prefer maps. Plan ahead, make notes on the route and it's never been a problem (for me).

I have a Garmin Street Pilot c510 de luxe still sitting in its box, from Christmas 2006 (I think). I plan to get a hand held GPS with co-ordinate capability which would help to find sites which give location information this way.

As above a heated windscreen would be great

Well I've got xenons and now I would never buy a car without. I think I'd also like cc I'm going to get this done in the near future and of course leather

Previous owner spec'd xenons, sunroof, esp, heated seats, parking sensors and cruise. Was very happy indeed.

I would opt for Xenons, cruise control, sunroof, ESP, CD changer.

Xenons are superb (had them on my Clio 172 and missed them ever since)

cruise (cheap option imo, and great on those monotonous m'way drives)

Sunroof (I always liked sunroofs but since A/C they are only ever an optional extra)

ESP (peace of mind in crappy weather)

CD changer (yes I'm old school and still use CD's most of the time!)

I picked cruise control. Going to get it fitted soon to mine, well worth it.

Satnav, but only for the maxidot really!

Xenons, 100% must, makes suck a massive difference to driving at night.

3rd headrest, just because i`v never seen one. Anyone got any pictures? Wonder how much for one from a dealer now?

I thought about heated seats, but once you sit down, they warm up anyway, only takes a few seconds doesnt it? And ESP, was on my mates, he hated it, when mucking about on a roundabout, it just randomly cuts all the power. Didnt like it TBH

Heated screen I believe is "owned" by ford so the technology only appears on there group brands.. My sisters mk 4 Fiesta had one.. I was rather jealous.

You can fit one if you like.... last year someone on here found a motor sport windscreen company that offered it as a separate screen with heating element.. Don't see why it would be hard to hook up on some kind of timing circuit with a button in one of the blanks.. (could even by another heated rear screen button for it)

sunroof - in the UK?

Yes, this is where i live :giggle:

Retrofit mate, can get the parts from skoda cheap and an easy fit too! on my list of carp to do

heated screen link

esp, cruise control, sunroof, xenons, side airbags, heated seats, for me emoticon-0148-yes.gif

£1825 if my maths and your prices are correct emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
