R32 Front ARB, straight fit?

Featured Replies

Had a bit of bad news today that what I thought was going to be a straight ARB bush renewal, is actually also a very badly corroded arb where the plastic sleeve once was. one side is fine but the other is so pitted that the bush seat on the bar is now uneven.

Been advised that I should buy a new one. Does the R32 one fit straight on (obviously with different bushes) or do the drop links etc also need to be changed. I've just had new drop links so I don't really want to have to buy new ones again!

Cheers

R32 is a straight fit, ive got one waiting to go on in the new year when i can get hold of a RARB. (not advisable to fit without a RARB. not good for the handling), will be fitted with superpro bushes when the time comes

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it and how much? just wondering if the best place to buy is the VW Dealership or if there is another source?

Try Trade Parts Specialist.

You can either remove the remaining sleeve and fit smaller bushes to clamp onto the "none" sleeved bar section or replace with R32 FARB, which is a direct fit.

Although as sivrs mentions is a litle stiff for the chassis unless you are adding a RARB too.

Here is a link to my thread fiiting a R32 FARB plus other items.

Well its in, ended up having to buy a brand new one for £90 as none on ebay or forums, just my luck but the garage had removed my old one and i figured what I paid for the bar, I saved in labour by not having them put the old one back in and then out again.

New bushes in with it and now no more knocking!

I must say though, the difference is very subtle, turns in a touch better but other than that its the same car. I ran it without the roll bar most of last week and it was really tail happy....great fun but the steering feel was poor to say the least.
