New VRS fuel economy?

Featured Replies

My 60 plate VRS TSI has now done 20,000 of mixed driving and has had the engine oil breather mod and software ECU remap to stop excessive oil consumption. I always use super unleaded 98+ octane fuel and around town realistically you can expect anything from 28-34mpg depending on how much sitting in traffic you do. Driving carefully on A/B roads you should be able to manage 34-37mpg. On a long (300mile) 75mph motorway run on cruise control I get 39-41mpg.

If anything I think the engine oil breather mod and ECU remap has perhaps increased fuel consumption by about 2-3mpg and the car does not feel so 'peaky' and quick but that might just be me. Even if that is the case it is still better than doing only 1000 miles per litre of oil with the potential damage to the cat and lambda sensor not to mention possibly faily MOT emission tests.

I've beaten the official combind mpg on the last three VW engined cars I've owned as well as the last three motorbikes. It's the driving/riding style that counts, once the engine has been run in corr

I use the road trip app on my phone and my fuel economy is as follows.

5,144 total miles

691.69 litres

35.94 average mpg

£1.361 average price per litre

17.2p per mile.

Similarly to Ryan above the car computer shows 29-34 across town and 38-44 on a run. I have noticed that there's a big difference in economy between doing 65-70 (44mpg) and 85-90 (30-32mpg) which you would probably expect.

I know that you would need to fill the taken to get a true reflection of the MPG, but at the same time if you fill the tank each time you are adding weight to the car and so reducing the MPG.

With this in mind, i never fill the car to top. My style of driving always enable me to get an MPG that is as good as Skoda's suggested level ; )

I've done over 8,000 miles in my mk2 Fabia vRS, averging 36.9 mpg. Long motorway drives I achieve 40-48mpg, depending on weather conditions. My most recent long drive, up the M1, M6, 178 miles in total, maxidot said I had 48mpg across the drive, which is pretty good I thought :)

I am careful with the usage, as I do spend quite a bit of time in traffic, but I still get to enjoy the car :)

Did the excel sheet thing for my Mk1 Vrs from new and it averaged out at an actual measured 46mpg in 5years over 94,000 miles.

Started doing it with the Mk2 Vrs when I got it back in early Nov. and so far I'm getting 37mpg measured over 3,424 miles which for a car with this performance is pretty good. I do a 40 mile round trip commute on A roads each day and mixed running about at the weekend between in town and A roads, mostly keeping to the legal limits with the odd blast every so often and have only ever put Tesco Momentum and one fill of Sainsbury Super in it

what are guys getting from a FULL tank then- Combined/motorway

What are you guys getting from a 1/4 of a tank (not including the 3/4 to full point as there will be extra fuel in the pipe to the filler cap)

The manufacturer data says you can fit 45 litres of fuel in, ive found you can normally fit a fair amount more in there in previous cars. what have you found

See my fuelly signature.

85% of my fuel has been shell v power. The balance has been BP 97 ron stuff and 1 tank full of 95 when the petrol shortage was on !

Majority of miles put on in suburban driving.

Bullyboy,

what has happened in the last short while to give such an improvement in your fuel economy?

& What is the mileage the engine has done ?
