snow tyres bf goodrich all terrain

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My brother a nissan narvara and a set of BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN and it will go anywhere. The snow monster that i have on ordered has 225/50R17 . Is it possible to fit a set bf goodrich all terains to this machine, say on steel rims. If so what size should they be.

BFG AT's will be good but not as good as a proper winter tyre.

Check the tyre thread in the techie bit for the suitable 16" sizes. Even then I would you should check all clearances with a trial fit first.

I concur. They will be great off-road, but not as good as winter tyres on-road. Particularly not on wet and icy roads.

All terrains aren't great on wet roads, still not as bad as the 285 mud terrains on my Landcruiser that is scary but excellent on the snow!

+1

I had BFG AT's in 245/70/16 on my Kia Sorento - Ok on Dry Roads, Poor on Wet Roads, Very good on Snow, and they are M&S Marked.

If you want an all year round 225/50 R17 tyre that also works in snow, there's only one real option; Goodyear Vector 4 Season

Otherwise it's the Nokian eNTyre but this is more tailored to cold or wet weather with a limited snow capability.

TP

One of the downsides of that slightly wierd size of 225/50/17 is the very limited range of tyres available. Its a very low profile for an SUV type vehicle, and 'utility' tyres are not really made in it. Many folks use a steel alternative of course. I wanted winter tyres on the alloys and had to resort to rather expensive Contis in the end - but they do work good. AT or mudpluggers of any description really do not exist in this size, I think. For road work, winter tyres are superb, no doubt about it.

Yes Guys I think you are right get a trial fit and see what is what . Buy time I get my machine( end of March) hopefully the snow will gone. But maybe as yous say an allrounder rather than bfg a/t.

thanks again

Having recently bought a set of the Goodyear Vector 4 seasons, I am very impressed with them.

They'll be staying on all year round.
