Has anyone used this type of hitch-mounted bike rack on the detachable flange towbar (dealer installed)? I would like to get one, but I've been told that because the flange is smaller than a standard towbar head and because there is no "lip" to sit on, that you can't put a towbar bike rack on the detachable flange towbars. But this was a guy trying to sell me an ugly non-detachable type....

ian-inhome; thanks for your quick reply. It's a really useful video, but I have the opposite problem: I have the bike rack, but I don't have access to a skoda towbar flange. It looks like it should be ok, but I'm worried the towbar clamp mechanism of the 972 (also on the Thule 974/9708 models) won't get enough of a grip on the small head of the skoda flange ball-head to safely hold the carrier up....

Unless - are you saying the skoda towbar flange/ball-head thingy is the same as the one in the video on the Audi A6 wagon?

Sorry I don't know, I have a Witter detachable towball and the Thule fits on that perfectly.
