ASR button on dash?

Featured Replies

HI,

I have a MK1 Fabia Estate Elegance with ASR. I know ASR is Automatic Stability Regulation and its a crude traction control system.

What I'd like to know is does the ASR button on the dash switch it on or off? I've looked through my user manual and it doesn't say.

I'm wondering if its running all the time and the button is for turning it off or the other way round: its always off unless you turn it on with the dash button.

your help is appreciated!

The system is ON by default, when you turn it off a light on the dashboard will come on to warn you that the system is currently OFF. So, light off = ASR on, light on= ASR off.

many thanks.

??? - from the brochure:

ASR: Anti-Slip Regulation traction control ensures the Fabia’s stability when pulling away or accelerating. If the engine power or torque being transmitted to the drive wheels is too great, for example on a slippery road surface, engine torque is automatically reduced until optimum road-holding returns, thus preventing wheelspin. A light indicates whether the ASR system is on. It can be manually switched off.

Sometimes if you get stuck in the snow the ASR can hinder more than help you! I tend to switch it off in that instance and just let the wheels spin - rocking the car back and forth to get unstuck doesnt work with ASR on!

+1 the ASR orTSC on the Ibiza can be a real pest in the snow.

Switch it off and drive smoothly.
