Hurry up DVLA

Featured Replies

I do like having a private plate (I know others don't) but hate the fact it always slows the process of changing car

Last time, for the better. I got to keep my Civic Type R for 2 more weeks of fun but this time I really want the Octavia estate before Christmas.

The dealer sorted out the retention of my plate on friday so fingers crossed. Has meant I have been putting miles on the Fabia so its not all bad

I do however have a stereo I need to fit before the 28th so the sooner would be better to give me enough time to get it all wired up and working. Has anyone fitted a single din to their car and was it as easy as the photo suggest? Also did the car retain the beeps for the parking sensors?

Thanks and cant wait to join the more refined club :D

They've speeded up recently... Or they did when i swapped my reg last month.

To take the reg off the vRS and put it on it's original reg, receive the logbook back and the retention cert. back took two weeks..... (About a week for the reg change to come back another 5 days for the logbook and another couple of days for the retention cert to arrive.)

Then the day after i collected the Lexus i called in at the DVLA in Sheffield and put my reg on the Lex. I then got the new Lexus logbook within a week.

Cheers

hmmm, Christmas isn't looking so likely or even the 28th then :'(

lol It's a lot quicker than they used to be. And they've now changed the process so they get the logbook for the vehicle you're selling back to you quicker than the retention cert. which makes sense when you think about it cos you need the logbook before you need the retention cert.

I would say that the times i said would be extended at this time of year.... Mine was all done end of October beginning / middle of November.

Good luck.

true, I only need the log book and I can wait for retention so you never know.

The garage also want the sale in December so they will be keeping their fingers crossed

Push comes to shove I will leave the Fabia there and collect the Octavia when I get back from visiting family

Can't see the post helping much at the moment. I received 2 items this morning that had been sent 1st class on the 8th December

Ouch

Thats a good point, Wales got hit pretty bad.

Our post has been fine, but then again the snow hasn't been that bad in Hampshire

I've noticed varying times to get the required paperwork back from the DVLA, each time I've changed cars and swapped plates. Just depends on their current level of workload really.

On some occassions I've been surprised at the speed of turnaround, for others I've been waiting and hanging on for them to get stuff sorted. Swings and roundabouts really!

Best of luck with the change :thumbup:

still waiting :'(

Bet they'll have been stuffed up by the cold weather postal delays.

Or that's what they'll blame anyway

indeed. Does make me wonder what the garage are going to say when I take the car back with 500 more miles since it was priced up
