Okay, for anybody thinking of purchasing one of these units, using the link below as it should earn Briskoda.net enough to contribute to a months hosting, if not it was worth a go.

As these are new devices I'm not recommending you buy one, but on paper they seem bloody good for 429incVAT&Delivery at present.

How does a GPS based system detect mobile units?

By having a small laser module attached usually...

Or it might just have locations of frequently used sites.

Rob.

Few as per the other thread will actually detect a mobile laser unit in time. My thoughts on them is you take your chances, read the road look for honey traps and store them in the device as you pass by.

The OB2 will alert over limit where ever, could be usefull.

There might be a group buy on the cards if 10 or more are interested, would be somewhere above 300GBP but less than 400GBP, but then the briskoda hamsters will have to chew on last months loo rolls. :D

I'll leave it open for a while; they are out of stock at the moment anyway, over 1000 units in a few days.

After which other fourms might offer similar or another product comes along.

My main reason for considering this as an upgrade to Jon's old morpheous is to enter my own locations as I potter about.

As an extension to this I aksed the leading companies if it would be possbile to maintain said data of my locations via a pc application, thus allowing me to share my blackspots with say you Paul. Most just said not a chance as it hurts there annuity streams maybe. Origin are developing a package to maintain your locations, although at this point it's only to delete them. Although he did acknowledge the idea as not impossible for the future.

So thats one reason why I'm considering this one over the RA. Apart from the slighlty longer list of features and speed over NSL indication generally...

got mine coming next week - just got the letter from origin..

hopefully wed/thurs

then i can go smoke some smokeys..

  • 4 weeks later...

I have my B2 now... stunning... by far the best ive used.... would be up for the group buy on a second....cos the wifes confiscated mine for the TVR.....:D

So come on, post a full review! :D

How does it compare to the RA then?

Andy

never used r/a....i know rob rates it highly.....

only morpheous / origin blue i /snooper lots of old radar crap.

it has lots of great features that i havent even used yet.. but worked faultlessly from the box.. has nav out to use a pda for nav w/o a gps jacket.. will control a diffuser and plenty more...

But does it update by phone line and its own modem , or is it like the RA and updates via the pc (and broadband for me:D and thus doesnt cost me extra)

Cheers

Andy

What does it do as standard, what's in the box, does it have pretty graphics, etc?

Bet you're glad you owned up to having one now? :)

I saw it in the back of Top Gear magazine and I was very impressed by what they said came as standard. There website says it can do all this

- Warns of all safety cameras (Gatso, Truvelo, SPECS, DS2 Speedmaster)

Alerts for accident blackspots/Congestion Charging Cameras (time sensitive) & schools (time sensitive) (alerts may be switched off by user)

Alerts for user defined, personal locations

Limitator feature - sounds warnings only if the user is exceeding the prevailing speed limit

Limitator feature

Tempting although I've only just bought the Road Angel, so I suppose I'd better stick with it for a while.
