Was recently looking at a CR vRS and had a couple of decent (pre-reg) deals lined up with different dealers but both vehicles were somewhere between £500 to 600 overpriced compared with new and not exactly what I wanted.

I decided to go back to yet another dealer and spoke to them about availability on the new VAT free deal. By a minor miracle they said there were three cars showing 'mandatory' on their computer system, i.e. the cars had been built and were at Embden awaiting transport to the UK.

By the the time the dealer came back to me with specific specs, five minutes later, two of the three had been reserved. My options were thus limited but I'm happy with the spec - Race blue hatch, CR diesel, DSG with MFSW + paddle shift, rear parking sensors and auto dimming RVM + lights and wipers.

I've been told January delivery and, weather dependent, maybe mid Jan at the latest - I'm hoping this will happen given the car's built but if it takes a little longer so what, the dealer stuck their neck out and gave me a good and concrete part-ex price.

I have been looking all month and every time dealers looked on their computer there was nothng like this available - I guess if you want to get the VAT deal and beat the price hike then keep pestering the dealers one might just pop up!

It's just good timing as they appear and are reserved so quickly and the dealers can't keep a constant lookout because they have so many cutomers for the diesels - or maybe they just want the extra money come 2011! :wonder:
