Windscreen Washer Motor

Featured Replies

2010 vRS. There is no noise at all from the motor when I try to get water on to the front or back windscreen. Using screenwash that goes down to -21C. I've checked the fuse and there's nothing wrong with it. Tried all the tricks of using warm water, a little bit of de-icer, warm environment for a couple of hours. All of them no use. I've concluded the motor has gone.

Anyone can offer a better conclusion? emoticon-0106-crying.gif

Kind regards,

Welcome to the club!

Mine has went the same way and my Skoda retailer want to charge me £65 for the pleasure to fix it! When I mentioned warrenty they basically turned round and said no! So a quick call to Skoda UK and another dealer to confirm it's covered under warrenty and they said yes.

I've got my car booked into Skoda in early January to get it looked at only problem is my retailer moved out to the other side of town and I have no screenwash to clean the window!

On the plus side I got a phone call from a new skoda retailer 5 mins from my house just opened a day ago and I've been invited down for a chat, so guess where I'm booking it into!

Be prepared to be told it's your fault even through you put the correct stuff in!

This happened with my Mk1 Fabia. No noise from the pump but the wipers moving. Tried the fuse but it was fine. Expecting an unwanted repair (you have to get the bumper off the Mk1) I asked my old man who came back with "stick a fan heater in the engine for a few minutes". Unbelievably this worked. Left it for 10 minutes blowing in that corner and the motor came back to life.

Worth noting I left the car in the garage a night thinking this might fix it but it was still too cold. Only thing that got it was the heater.

One thing I noticed was if I had the internal light on it would dim slightly when I pressed for the sprayers despite the motor not moving...this might just be my crap battery though!

My money is on it being frozen.

If the water inside the pump is frozen it won't spin - hence no noise.

Mine did the same even when using neat screen wash!

Garaging the car didn't help, it was warmer in the garage but not enough to defrost the pump, or the reservoir or the hoses...
