Featured Replies

what other differences are there to the face lift furby vrs apart from the rear lights???

no rear door pins, apparently a softer touch dash, the plastic slats are a different angle, er thats it.

with the non-vRS you can add the bumpers and it's fittings to that exhaustive list.

.....and the rear vRS badge is slightly smaller! :)

Most of them have that. The very first few batches had the badge from the Octavia, than around christmas 2003, they started fitting the smaller version.

Can you elaborate, do they have anything to do with the co2 output rising from 138g/Km to 146g/Km this year ?

They changed the gear ratios before the 04 reg last year, that will have something to do with it.

Speaking of which - how much worse is the fuel consumption on the later models, as it seems a gearing change like that would make the engine run at higher revs for motorway speeds :(

if the gear ratios have changed then what has this done to performance??

Improved acceleration and reduced top-end, I'd guess...

Not enough to notice a difference between the 2 models.

That's ok then :D

The new rear light clusters.

Maybe this is not to do with the facelift, but when I test drove a VRS today there were some changes compared to my 3 year old Elegance.

The first I noticed was the mirror adjustment. Previously, there was an R and L+R adjustment, which was confusing. Now there's an L and an R.

However, what I didn't know was that the indicators had changed. Previously, I could temporarily hold them on or off and the stalks would return. Now, a small movement will indicate three times and stop. When I went for a spin on the motorway, I indicated to overtake in my normal way and when I let go, the indicator continued. So I held it the other way. Then it indicated to the left and wouldn't stop. So, back and forth a couple of times again, indicating right and left until I twigged. I must have looked a right pr4t!

Correct - that does appear to be a MY2005 Mark1.5 change since my colleague's Mark 1 car registered 09/2004 has the combined action whereas my Mark 1.5 car registered 10/2004 doesn't

I think that was an earlier change rather than a Mark 1.5 alteration but as it's Saturday I can't readily check - however once you get used to it, it's much better - however if you signally wrongly by mistake... :)

Note the ability to retro-fit cruise control is inhibited on late Mark 1 models and presumably the Mark 1.5.
