Whatever car you end up buying, make sure not to read any forums before you do.

I can't believe this thread.

You must be paraniod, Skoda tops the JD power survey and the Octavia is the best made car on the platform( A3, Leon, Golf ) ask jeremy Clarkson

+1. Drove a 60 plate Golf at work yesterday, and getting back into the Octavia at the end of the day felt like a step up in class.

I was genuinely surprised. The Octy felt more solid overall, & the superior quality of the interior was noticeable too!

Get it!! You'll be very pleasantly surprised by how good it is!

Shortly before i had my Octavia i had to hire a car for the weekend and it was a brand new Golf, as has been stated i felt the quality difference of the octavia was far better, the golf while it was solid was neither bad but equally not good, it just was, even after 10 months of ownership of my Octavia it still makes me smile every time i get in it and go for a drive, Everyone i've ever shown the Octavia to has not failed to be impressed by it, especially the spaciousness. Remember every car has its faults and the few minor niggles you may get with the Octavia if any , i have found are FAR less than any i've experienced with other brands especially including my 2 years of hell with a Volvo S40 2.0D (google "starting problems" on that hugely common engine if you want to know real problems)

If you don't want the car im sure the dealer will have no trouble at all in selling it on but you're really going to be missing out if you pass up on it.

If you are unlucky enough to get any niggles a good dealer will sort them for you.

Our latest Scout was our 4th Skoda, the first 3 were perfect when new, the Scout had several rattles inside, a door & boot that wouldnt close properly & I was really disapointed.

Our local dealer had a couple of chaps spend half a day on it & everything was fixed ( they were spotted driving through town with someone in the back) but the car came back perfect, 20,000 miles on & its still perfect.

If you consider how much goes into a car there can always be niggles & those are the things that get posted but rest assured the Octy is a great car

Just to add, I put 104000 miles on an '08 vRS (with the older PD engine) in just over two years. Apart from two DPF issues which were quickly sorted under warranty, I had zero trouble.

This was on Irish roads, too... :giggle:

I heartily recommend you go for it.

Thanks for the feedback - I sense a degree of frustration - my main consideration were 'niggles' but my current Superb CR170 hasn't had any so that was causing the element of doubt. Me and the missus have had numerous Skodas and will probably stick with the badge.

This has been a real pain in the arse, literally, as the Superb is, well, just that and the Elegance spec is phenominal, however the seating position is giving me grief. I've watched the recent threads re seating positions etc and made some adjustements but the seating is still nowhere near as comfy as the Octavia - I think the pedals must be offset slightly more in the Superb.

I'm gutted to have to get shut of the Superb for this reason alone and didn't want to go from a car with no problems..........

Well you could always trade it in for a Toyota, but you will loose more fuel from the tank that you would in a Skoda, it will probably get a recall in about 11 months emoticon-0140-rofl.gif.

I have had my CR since 30th Dec, & it has rained a bit since then, I have no water dripped in, as the gas struts are opening the boot slowly causing the water to run back towards the top of the car into the side gutters, & i usually control the opening boot anyway, specially in car parks or garages as it opens so high.

This car is 100BHP more powerful than my Fiat 500 was, with a tight engine i am getting approx 9 mpg less than the 500, this is the 3rd best decision I have made behind getting married & having kids. emoticon-0105-wink.gif

I went through all this agony while waiting for my VRS. The car is ace. Cancellation would have been a big mistake. emoticon-0148-yes.gif
