VW Polo GTI vs SEAT Ibiza Cupra and Skoda Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

lol

test drove one today, and quite liked it actually though. 100%requires a remap, rear ARB and better brake pads

Fabia only wins on price otherwise why choose it over the polo?

I know someone with a lease car who has a polo, the interior quality is nicer than the new fabia, but I wouldnt spend 18k on a polo when we can get a fabia for 13 and a bit!

i like the polo but 18k is alot a money as for the vrs there is more inside my sport then the vrs was a litte bit dissapointed with the car

as for my dealer they have only sold 2 cars and one of them was the demo car i think old vrs sold better because it was a diesel

I agree about the looks and especially the interior, my friends when you try to reach for the interior door handle when it is dark you cant find it as everything is Black black ,( a la fast show! ):giggle:

Agreed.... too black inside

BUT

It doesnt need an ARB (Electronic LSD as fitted to the Octy vRS)...

or a remap (180bhp is enough and the 7 speed DSG wont handle much more torque)..

or better brakes..Better than my Fabia vRS Mk1 by a long way!!

To sum up.......Understated performance car with VFM....suprises a lot of other drivers!!

18K I wish

I've been online and built one to the same spec as my vRS on order.

It broke the 21K barrier

21K for a fff-in Polo  Dream on VW, I'll stick with a decent/reasonable Skoda thank you very much

i have come from a stage 2+ octavia vRS so running in the region of 270-280hp. So from my point of view i think its pretty gutless. i reckon going off power to weight ratios, if we can get the power up to around 220Hp should put it in the power range of a stage 2 TFSI, and 230/240Hp then it will be as quick as the stage 2+ TFSI. now were talking.

ARB?? 100% needs uprating, either both or just rear will give a big improvement. there is quite a bit of roll, and the nose does run wide with only a slight dab of power in a bend. In all honesty i dont rate this XDS that much anyway. its no where near as good as a proper mechanical LSD.

I really wasnt impressed with the braking as standard at all.

As you sum it up, of course its going to be better than your mk1 Fabia vRS. it is very good VFM, no doubting that, and it will surprise alot of dricvers, but im used to very quick cars, i do alot of track days, and when i buy a car i look at the potential to make a good car an excellent car. The new vRS makes for a very very good base car

With the Polo

1-you pay the surcharge for the badge

2-It looks like a golf GTI:- good i here you say, well i dont think so as i think all the golfs look near identical until you get up close to them. if your going to have a sporty car, at least make it look different to the run of the mill varients.

3-As a hatch id say the ibiza cupra is a very good contender for your money as its only slightly dearer, and a lovely looking car. But as an estate the faboia vRS has the whole group to itself.

Theres one thing getting beaten by a skoda, then the fact its a fabia, then the fact its only a 1.4 and even better its an estate. this is why i want one. I used to love catching people out in my octavia

If anything I think the review is a little vague and doesn't go into much detail. Additionally, why not include the Audi A1 which is the same price range and same engine?

Great he's chosen the Fabia. Why? It's the worst according to him :wonder:. Logic defying.

Additionally, the Polo GTI 5 door online is almost 19k without anything on it. That's a lot more than £1500....

The estate is Dreadful looking though, a real Granny car

i think it looks alot better than the hatch. the proportions are all wrong with the hatch.

Really going to miss mine.

how come your selling?

how come your selling?

Money is needed elsewhere now, both the payments and the deposit I have in it.

:giggle: you might be right there mate, that said ive not seen any fabia vRS's on the road yet. I havent got as choice for the estate. need it for the dog. so i have to like them

I saw a yellow furby the other day going up the A414 so I wizzed after it to see if it was a vRS. Have to say, as it wasn`t (and even if it was) yellow looks bloody awful on the Mk 2 estate! But i suppose the (limited) colour options aren`t that expensive.

Just have to spec the vRS up quite a bit to mtach the standard kit on the Elegance which I though was a bit odd when the dealer told me, especially as its supposed to be the range topping model!

Elegance is above vRS, always has been.
