Temp Warning lOnly When Its cold Fabi VRS

Featured Replies

Ok during the cold snap the temp warning light comes on first thing after start up, goes off after restarting, repeats it a couple of times

behaves fine the rest of the day, its only on start up first thing when its been really cold

Coolant level is fine, did it last year and was advised it was a software fault which they fixed at dealers no seems to be recuring

car is a VRS special edition 2007

anyone else experienced this or got any clues?

seems to be sensor fault rather than anything more serious (i hope) :'( , will get dealers to look at it next service in less than 1000 miles but its a pain in the **se!

What does the temp guage do? Is it staying at cold whilst the warning is up or is it rising?

Hi There,

We had the same issue with ours, assuming your coolant level is correct then it will be the sender unit held within the main coolant reservoir, we replaced ours and it wasn't mad money to be fair.

Hope this helps

Mac

If the coolant level is fine and it does this when you start from cold on a cold morning, it will be the sensor in the coolant expansion bottle. Simple cheap fix - just get a new expansion bottle. They're about £15 and don't take long to change.

My SE has been doing exactly same thing, coolant level is OK.

Will try replacing expansion tank then.

Cheers for advice

That's on a new shape fabia though - they don't have a temperature gauge, so they have a blue light on the dash until the engine warms up.

mines done the same aswell added the tinyest amount of coolant to it and it went away, even the the coolant was near exactly on the marker to start with.
