My sdi 1.9 has a missfire at set rpm 1050 as per previous post, I learned that it could be bad/corroded connections on the fuel ecu. Mr Haynes says that unplugging the ecu requires a resetting or reprogramming on refit. Is that so?

Nope, you can unplug and reconnect with no issues.
