Front Creaking on sharp turns...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

wishing you all a happy new year...

Got a bit of bovver...there is a sharp creaking coming from the front wheels on the VRS when i take a roundabout turn or 90 degree turn...

Its very sharp and sounds like its coming from somewhere in the wheel area. I'm having the car jacked on Wednesday to fit some powerflex bushes...

Are the bushes the most likely culprit????

Cheers

when you say sharp creaking, is it a constant noise like a CV joint or just one creak that happens - Sharp like metal on metal or a rubbery sqeaking noise? Does it do it whilst braking, accellerating and coasting around the corner and when you're turning right & left? 20 questions! :)

Bushes are highly likely the culprits but Check the obvious as well, wheels bolted up tight etc. other places to check are the ball joints, top mounts with bearings.

Nope not CV joint.

More like rubber on rubber....very high pitched and audible in the cabin...

Only when coasting round a corner turning right

Check the springs that one hasn't popped loose - could possibly be your tire rubbing against a spring. Check for any marks on your tires that might suggest they are rubbing. If its a constant noise its unlikely to be a bush, more likely to be rubbing of some sort.

My 2003/53 needs a steady supply of silicone spray to the suspension bushes keep it creak free..had it on ramps a few times and nothing seems worn or loose, just dry..heard the same off a mate who was a skoda salesman for a bit, seems they sourced the bushes from the "ACME Haunted house door hinge co."
