9.5 x 18's on mk1 vrs

Featured Replies

just wondering if the above would fit? ET either 35 or 38 or would i need different?

like i say just a thought and won't be till later on in the new year (class 1 test and a few other things to sort first) and definately not if my lottery numbers come in :giggle:

bored of my multi spokes and this carp weather we've had has decided to remove the paint from them so they'll need a coat or 2 of paint again and i don't no if i can be a***d with them tbh!

OR do i funk the 18's off and put spiders back on :wonder:

i'm bk at work bored so i'm passing the time scouring the web so i thought i'd post to relieve my boredom

I would prob thought youd be looking to get out to et30 mate 8j usually are et35 so youd prob wana kick them out abit :)

Flybikeslee pulked of 9s and with adaptors etc he is out about et30 iirc with a stretched 215 tyre :)

Which im prob gona go out and say is the only way ? If you want it dropped to for sure, are you thinking 9.5 rear and 8-8.5 fronts mate?

Theres a offset calculator on 1010tires, when im on the puttie and no-ones done it il sneak up a link mate

There 9.5's all round mate. Was only a thought I had in a little moment of boredom

I'm sure you'll get them on but a lot depends on how low you intend to run it but 9.5's all round has been done on mk4 golfs so can't see there been much problem doing it on the octy,if anything you may catch on full lock

And if running quite low you might have to roll the front arch lips

What you looking at wheelwise? rota grids?

How'd you guess? B)

Wasn't looking at anything specific but they caught my eye and imagination :giggle:

Well when I saw 9.5 all round it was the first rim that came to mind as 9.5 and is the only worthwhile size to go for imo as you get the concave face :) I was considering getting them myself a while back but decided to go for some porsche split rims instead which I finally got earlier this month, just waiting for some adapters to arrive, think you should do it though as I still think there a mint looking rim and look really aggressive, just i know a couple of people with them now so wanted something different

9's will be fine on back but not sure about the front due to caliper clearance see here:

These are 9j offset et38:

Looks like there's plenty of room left with the 9's, and as said the rota grids I was lookin at are only worth getting in 9.5's as they are the only size that comes with the concave face.

I've seen a few mk4 golf running them so can't see there being much difference in the arches on the vrs?

It's on coilovers so I suppose if I did decide on them I could have a mess around with heights etc, and run a bit of stretchification on the tyres :giggle:

It will be ok and as long as you are willing to accept a bit of scrubbing or modify your arches to clear and as you say 9.5 have been done on mk4 golfs, also seen 10 rears so rear shouldn't be an issue just possibly a bit on the front but its worth the sacrifice :D

definately do-able on the rear, the fronts...hmmm. you wouldn't be able to run the arch over the tyre at a guess. i keep meaning to throw one of my rears on the front to check....

was also eyeing up the blue grids on edition

Go on be a gent swap em round n let me know

Also saw those blue grids on edition but Dnt think they'd suit a red Vrs.. but yellow with blue rims could work B)

they wouldn't be staying blue....if i get a minute today ill swap them ;)

Don't undestand how the ones on edition are 2nd hand and he wants £800 but you can buy a new set from seller toxic rides on ebay for £795 in a few different colours so unless you wanted a set in that colour blue then wouldn't a buyer be better off buying a new set? I'd still have a set as winter wheels to replace my 19s if I found a used set cheap enough at some point but don't think the wife would be impressed lol

Did wonder about his price when I also saw them cheaper on eBay, although I couldn't find them in black.

Your 19's look B) and so do the porka's! Infact the whole car is pretty impressive

I'm sure that if you were at a stage to buy some then they would get you some in black :) keep us updated if you decide to go and get some as I'd like to see what they look like on an octy B)

and thanks for the kind comments about my car, looking forward to getting my new wheels on soon :)
