Has anyone on here fitted a new cat/decat to their vRS!

Featured Replies

Right, this must be like the third topic on this but i have got no answers! Which i find difficult to believe as most of you on here have got a decat!

My question being, how did people get to the three bolts joining the decat/new cat to the downpipe/turbo (not sure) in the engine bay, behind the engine. It seems very difficult to do it from underneath, i have tried and had to use a socket with an extension, which wouldnt move as there was not enough room.

Otherwise seems you could go in from the top removing all the stuff at the top of the engine bay to get down there. Air box stuff etc.

There are Tech's on here, you must know!

I get them all from underneath normally, top one can be accessed if your strugling by taking the air box out and going in from the side.

The nuts are 12mm iirc.

Does a decat make any difference to the MOT? ie problems with emissions?

No, its a passive CAT unlike a petrol one so doesnt effect the emisions test which is only an opacity test.

Thats what i wanted to hear! Cheers

im having a go at mine when im back in work

one question is- is the cat section part of the original exhaust e.g. does it need cutting or does it unbolt from the rest of the exhaust

its sleaved so just can be unbolted,
