Exhaust- Need a new one

Featured Replies

Had my car serviced on wednesday and they made a note that the outer casing of the backbox was corroded. Was about to leave to go out and the exhaust warning light thing came and stayed on so i checked the exhaust and it was quite bad. Would this be the reason as to why the light stayed on?

Im now looking at a new exhaust. Would a blueflame be quiet or near enough OEM?

Cheers

Also any links to ones on ebay that i could purchase straight away?

cheers

Do you want a standard sounding one? What tip you want. If u want a bit of grrrrr I'd suggest a mufflerectomy.

I dont mind either the oval or twin. Quite like the oval i think but had a twin on the zr for a bit! Wouldnt mind a bit of turbo whistle but dont want it too loud. How would i find places that do mufflerectomy in my area?

cheers

Bump for answers on the light

Have you had your car checked for fault codes on VAGCOM in regards to the exhaust light.

Also I don't think a corroded/rusty back box will cause the light to come on (could be wrong mind)

If it is at the front , may be an issue with air

But then they dont have lambda`s

I did not think that diesel`s had an exhaust light

Have you checked the handbook?

In the handbook its number 33 iirc. Basically the little one with the oil on it. Apparently it should come up as emissions workshop or something?

After reading that i tried brake lights, they are fine. When i start the car theres a very strong smell that was never there before the light came on. Im assuming it will be the backbox thats the problem

Assumption is not a diagnostic check

No the back box issue will not cause the issue

There is no sensors at all in the back box

Maybe worth getting a check done on the codes

Yep ive asked a few people on here if they could help me out. Wasnt going to do anything until i had those checks done anyway

So get a diagnostic check done

But I doubt it is anything to do with a rust back box

But then the back box will still remain rusty

So may be 2 jobs there I am afraid :(

Apparently its something to do with the fuel pump and a £12 repair which will be happening tomorrow.

Still looking at getting a new exhaust now though. Quite keen on the miltek but think i may prefer the oval pipes.

Any pictures of either?

cheers
