Rear Seat Squeeking Badly

Featured Replies

Hello folks just bought a vRS (02) so thought better jump in here for all the advice I will need, this may be due to me having little luck with cars lately !!

The rear seat on the car was squeeking badly so the previous owner taped what I think will be the U bolt that the seat clips back into when in the up-right position, sadly this never worked and now my seats are stuck up !!!

I tried pulling the passenger side seat down as it was squeeking so badly and doing my nut in, however the cable has now snapped due to using to much force, ave found a link showing how to replace the broken part and get the seat down BUT

HOW DO I FIX THE SQUEEK, ITS REALLY BAD !!!!

Is it the seat latch or where it fits in at bottom thats actually squeeking, remove the tape and pull the seat out from its catch at bottom, you will need a flat blade screwdriver to do this and grease both and refit, do both sides and see if it cures it

I will give it a try tomorrow once ave managed to get my seat back down from the normal position !! Am pretty sure its coming from the mechanism itself, I even tried putting wedges in between the back seat and the struts in the boot to put pressure onto the seats but this never worked either !!!

Will keep you posted, I had been led to believe this was a common vRS problem, however after many searches it would appear its not.

It even squeeks going round corners. The struts are tight but do you think it could be them ?

well I think I have discovered my problem, my two anti roll bar things in the boot appear to be causing the squeek, on the part which is highest and bolts near the seat belt is only held on with one bolt, the two bolts which you can see from looking in the boot are missing, there dont appear to be a hole for the bottom bolt to go in just one at the top (if this makes sense). the lowest part of the bars are bolted with all three bolts.

can anyone confirm how many bolts should be holding this bar on and i take it this bar is to stop car movement at speed or crashing !!!!???

cheers guys
