Really Cheap Coilovers

Recommended Posts

The Company I bought my stainless steel manifold on ebay from the trade seller unit3tuning. It was sold as a 6N Polo manifold but i was advised by members here that it will fit my Felly 1.6 as they have the same engine.

Now it turns out that they also do coilover kit for a variety of VW's and Seat, including the Jetta and Caddy and mk1 Golf. Only £164.99 including shipping!

Now can anyone tell me if any of these kits are likely to fit my Skoda Felly or is the Felly completely different suspension setup to say a mk1 golf which i think it shares the same chassis?

Im trying not to make this sound like an advert(cos it's not) but if someone wants to check out there shop and tell me which kits would fit the Felly if any that would be great!

I think it all sounds too good to be true quality wise, but if it's TUV approved than surely it can't be that bad?

Hoping for ur input here too Tom

Thanks All,

no sadly none of the vw gear fit on the felicia.. the mk1 golf is not that far removed from the felicia chassis, but alas nothing is compatible... the felicia is based on a favorit and shares nothing in common with any vw type car.. keep your eyes peeled on this forum, i will be writing a bit up about coilovers in the not too distant future

Rear wheel bearings are common. Which always gives me pleasure when gits in Halfrauds or wherever I'm desperate to get one from tell me they won't have one, and I assure them they will as they're the same as all FWD VWs from mid 70s to about 98 or something! But yeah, that's the only bit that's common in the chassis, it's all Skoda, not VW...

ford escort mk 4/5 and fiesta front struts fit, we have fitted some uprated ecscort mk4 gas struts and escort 1.8 16v springs on to the young lads felicia at work (he thrashes it round a field) and they have really improved it a lot , golf 1 stuff may fit the rear but i'm not sure about the lengths

i think that would leave things a bit thin in places tho mate.

I have the pics and schemaits on my work pc for making the adaptor to fit the golf mk1 fronts as they used on the gpA cars i'll add them on here tomorrow they show all the diamensions for machining and making the adaptors up.

I was going to make a jig to hold the hubs in my milling machine but never got around to it lol

okay so nothing is a direct fit other than a skoda kit.

i never really wanted to fit coilovers to the skoda as it's too pricey!!! just this company doing them for £165 made me think that i may as welll.

If i was gonna buy proper coilovers £600+ ones then i would be fitting them to my Porsche 944 or my Mr2 Roadster not my Felly. I won't deny i am constantly tempted to spend money on the Felly but then i have to remind myself i use it to get to work not to race around; which of course the other two are far better suited for.

I do it love it alll the same though, it's a chuckable little thing!

Love you Lynsey (my Felly's name)

so is it a basic 944 u bought! a 2.5l 8V and oval or square dash.

This is my second 944, first was a 2.5l S 16v Ventiler 191bhp, not very torquey but plenty fast for a 19yr old, it only cost me £1325 and after spending less then £400 on it i sold it for over £2500 three months later.

The Second one is the much more driveable 3.0L S2 211bhp which was dynoed at 231.4bhp recently thanks to some subtle inlet manifold changes and a little bit of block work. and a Titanium race exhaust which is brutal!!! the chassis was seamed welded and tein clubsport collies where put on by the previous owner. the car is properly FAST, people think that because it's a porsche but not a 911 it's no good. my car happily keeps up with inexperienced 996 and 997 drivers who don't know how to push 911's. The acceleration between 80-140mph in fourth is outstanding though!

I reckon that 0-60 comes in about 5.5-6.0 secs. only cost me £3500 and only spent £2500 on it. absolute performance bargain and classy too. it's great being able to say i own a porsche at the meagre age of 21yr

and even better when i go on to say that it's not as good as my skoda though! hahaha.

my favorite thing is that provided you drive with a feather foot and don't brake(EVER) and avoid all traffic and ignore traffic lights it returns 34-37mpg.

thanks for that jimbo, tres interesting stuff that, by the looks of it, it's very elaborate.. i wonder why they would go to that much effort to fit suspension from a different car. obviously it makes it so the camber is adjustable but other than that i can't see any real advantage of it?

the main bonus is an extra 2 inches of travel for the damper, dont forget they will be using inverted struts so the damper would be min 40mm plus the bushes and the casing, the damper can go down almost as far as the cv boot with that mod where as otherwise it can only go as far a sthe top of the hub if you retain the clamp.

this is why my front struts went thru the inner wing and had the top mounts on top of the inner wing. in forestry travel is everything.

my strut casings are 54mm diameter so would never go in to the hub

been doing a bit of digging about today, and popped up the the scrapyard too.. it looks like the ones from a mk1 focus are a nearly absolutely perfect fit on the front of a felicia and no machining would be required, just figure out a way of fitting the felicia top mounts/bearing etc them  the rear ones wont fit on a hatch at all, but the rear springs might fit on a pickup

the mk4 golf ones should fit but the hub would need to be bored to 50mm for it to fit, which as jimbo says above it does make it a bit thin.. but still acceptable imo

I think if you want coilovers for the felly you should talk to HP sporting.

I wouldn't even doubt that companies like kw could hook you up with something.

Good example is my alfa brera.

Nowhere on kws website could I find supsension for her. A quick email and 1000 euros later I had a set of kw var 2 her.

So I do not doubt they will have something for the felicia.

I recently found this theme and I want to ask if it is sure these adapters are for golf mk1 coilovers? If yes, are they the same as golf mk2's ones? I saw some project cars in skoda virt forum and even downloaded the book which is this photo from but I don't see anywhere what coilovers did they use.
Now I totally understand that there are more cheaper ways to lower a Felicia but I am just curious.
