Just under 4000 miles in just over a month

Featured Replies

The poor Yeti. He is so in demand. From Lincolnshire to Wales, to Cornwall and Scotland he has been to them all! He was at first naked, then he had just the roof bars, then two bikes and finally he had a Kamei roof box. He has seen snow and ice, had winter tyres fitted and has been absolutely amazing.

He does one thing that really, really, REALLY annoys me though. In my Audi the car automatically locked itself just like my Yeti does - which is something I like. But when you stopped the doors could be opened as if the car was not locked. Including the boot. The only time they would stay locked was if you had locked it with the button from inside, then everything stayed locked when you pulled the key out of the ignition. Not the Yeti. Oh no. Everything stays locked when you take your key out of the ignition. The amount of times I've spoken £$^*&*(&^£ language when trying to open the boot to find it locked........ GRRR... Is there a cure?!

But otherwise I have never ever driven a car from which I get out so refreshed after spending so much time in it. Amazing seats and comfort.

Now some pics from the Cornwall and Edinburgh trips:

Fuel consumption with the bikes was awful (this is the final average on the trip back):

Going down I forgot to take the consumption pic and as memory 1 clears after a few hours I can't remember what it was, but it was also around the 35mpg mark.

And going to Edinburgh the Kamei 380 litre box was added. FAR more aerodynamic!

And better colour coded to my dirty Yeti.

And thus the consumption went up to this (even though the car was fully loaded and had five people up):

Going up:

And look at the predicted range:

And coming back I got bored doing 72mph and put my foot down a bit and set the cruise to a TomTom indicated 77mph:

And then I also have to say a HUGE thanks to Merlinman! On the way up we stopped at his as he kindly gave me his second redundant VAG compresson! Robin the compressor is now safely in the boot! Thanks. (I can also report that your crazy pigeon stayed on the roof box nearly up to the pub where we turned left!)

Hi Johann,

Ah Thanks TP. The convenience menus makes little sense to me so I will check this and set it up thus. I can't wait for you to get your Monster so you can help us plebs again! hehehe

Oh I love this forum!!! Thanks TP. You were right. The "Auto Open" was bot ticked. Now the car unlocks all doors the moment I take the key out of the ignition just like my Audi did. Awh. Perfect. Thanks.

Glad to hear you got it sorted :)

Great to hear you have been getting out and about in him Johann, there's only one way to see if a car works for you!

Perhaps you'll immitate the mileage your A2 had for the first few years of its life ;)

I doubt! I was working in Gatwick then and drove 100 miles a day to work. Hence the A2 did 60000 miles in just 3 years. Yeti mileage will calm down soon I hope. Though I must admit I never thought or planned for him to see all the corners of our isle in just a month!

Great Post Johann. Glad to hear you are back, in one piece and the car is run into the groundemoticon-0140-rofl.gif I mean run in. 4000miles in one month - that puts my paltry 2400miles into perspectiveemoticon-0136-giggle.gif Ok it's not that yet, but with a shortemoticon-0136-giggle.gif run up to Mansfield and back tomorrow to see Ben @ Shark Performance, it will be, by the time a month is over.

Those pictures must be photo shopped. One of them clearly shows a temperature at +9C. We in the NE have heard about these fantasy temperatures but we do not believe them. Keep those pictures honest in future!

@ Mike: I'm looking forward to a spin in your car once it has been Sharked... to tempt me!

@ Edmund: honest that was the temperature when I parked up in Edinburgh on the evening of the 30th. Was not seen again I grant you.
