No Power until 2000 rpm

The new fabia feels great, idles @ 875 rpms smoothy, no shaking or weird noises. but i do have the EPC light on (i think is because i have no brake lights and reverse sensor is disconected) and the timing chain is loose (i can hear it well)

problem is i have no power on low revs, and the engines turns off if i dont accelerate to 1500rpm from stand still (usualy light acceleration is needed as the rpm go down bellow 750 on all the cars i have including the felicia), this is specialy evident on morning starting from cold. when i put the AC fuel economy seems to be the same (arround 3% more witch is ok i think) in cruise so i dont know where the lack of power comes from.

i replaced 2 hoses that had air leaks, changed spark plugs and oil w filter, havent change the air filter yet and i dont know where the gas filter is (but i think i need to change that) will use fuel adittives for the next 4 to 6 fills since the car has been sitting for 4 month and the tank had no gas at all, will change the timing chain next month (as soo as i recover from all the money i put in) but i dont think any of theses will affect low rpm power much aparently the thermostat had been removed, but temp is always in the middle unless i get in the highway, then it goes down to 1/4.

Before doing anything else, you need to get the car scanned for faults. I doubt the brake lights/reversing switch are the cause of the EPC light

Yeh, i had some issues with the wiperblade fuse (changing the wrong one) and it stopped my brakelights working and brought up the engine management light.

i removed, checked and replaced all the fuses, and replaced all the bulbs for new ones, but still no brake light or reverse light.

the only new light i got after refitting all the fuses was the airbag light, (witch i have to reset)

Try unplugging the MAF (Sensor on the pipe coming from the airbox) and going for a drive, and report back.........

Edit/ Sorry I thought it was a diesel! However can anyone confirm whether or not the MAF adjusts fuelling at all, and could be a potential fault herE?

thanks, will do. if its the lamda sensor i will also experience an increase in FE, but its more noticeable in the morning when starting from cold (lambda sensor is not engaged until exhaust gases are hot enough) so i do have mi doubts

In all honesty mate... If you get it scanned for fault codes you'll have a much clearer idea of what's causing your problems... If it IS the Lambada sensor I'm sure it'll point you straight to it? And if it's something else you won't have to go around checking them all one by one..

Have a look in the VAGCOM section.. there might be someone near you on here that could read your codes for a small fee... or get it scanned at a VAG specialist.. or even buy one of the code reading tools from somewhere like halfrauds.. I think the codes it spits out can then be looked up somewhere online.

following the idea that it might be the lambda sensor i read on the internet how to clean it without disasembly, i ran the car in 2000 rpm, no load with a vacuum line removes to produce a lean condition and it worked, no the car doen'st have that power surge curve after 2000 rpm instead it has power from the get go
