Advice needed!

Hi all

I need to get the front lower arm bushes replaced. The cheapest quote I have had is £130 inc VAT for parts and labour. Am i getting ripped off or is that about right??

Also, not sure if its the cold weather but every morning when I start my car the coolant light flashes and beeps 3 times.I've checked the level and its above min. Is this a sensor fault or purely because of the extreme temperatures?

Thanks in advance :)

There is a lot of work involved in exposing the suspension and removing bushes to replace them so tit's likely the labour charge is huge as bushes are generally only a few quid. I know when my console bushes were changed it was around £200 when the bushes themselves were about £30

If the level on the coolant is fine then it sound like a duff sensor. Mine started doing it back in the middle of Nov

New bottle is abou t£15 - part number 6Q0 121 407 A

swapping them over took about half an hour

Thanks for the advice,is there any way of checking the sensor, or would it be easy just to make the change? If this is the case is there a how to guide on site please?

I think it depends on the year of the car and thus the type of bottle you have.

Some you can see down to the sensor prongs and see if they are knackered - others, as on my 04 plate, are a sealed unit you can't see into.

If i'm 100% honest I didn't do it myself as I have a tame mechanic relative for that but i watched him do it and it really is simple.

Disconnect all the pipes from the bottle and clamp the pipes shut and bung the bottle exits.

Unbolt the bottle, remove, empty the coolant, and bin.

Bolt new one in it's place reattach pipes and fill with new coolant
