Main beam bulb warning on but both OK?

Featured Replies

I have aftermarket HID's in my 09 Octy vRS (dipped beam), 4300K 35W & was told they were supplied with error cancellers. However, when fitting them I don't recall any extra or detachable leads etc. that could have been the dreaded 'cancellers'.

I had no problems for 3 or 4 months, then suddenly the bulb warning light came on while driving on the motorway with dipped beam on, telling me that both main beam bulbs are gone, when they are working fine!

Have the HID's screwed up the Canbus?

I have VCDS & have tried turning off cold diagnostics for just the main beam & for everything together, but the light stays on. Any ideas??? :S

i had this prblem one night warning light came on for no reason i have hids and bought cancellers seperate but one of them had blown both lights were working just fine i put a new canceller on and the warning bulb went out.

hope this helps you out.

Thanks.

The problem I have is that the HID's are on the dipped beam, and the bulb error warning is for main beam, which are both OK!

I'm baffled...

I have had this before on the indicators and turned out the headlamp plug was not quite home that last click. A quick hard push and you could hear a click and the warning went off.

Well it turns out all I had to do was clear a fault code & all is hunky dory again. No idea why it suddenly came on whilst belting down the M6 in the snow though.... :wonder:
