Tis steep I know :S

I'm basically just collecting various parts as and when I can. I can fit a fair amount of them myself, and I have a couple of mates who are pro mechanics so I can get 'mates rates' labour when need be. The expensive stuff will be getting the PD130 Garrett turbo that I recently acquired overhauled and hybrided, and mapping.

It's not going to be an instant transformation, but it should be quite good :) A lot of people say 'just get a vRS' but bugger them, I like my car and it'll be fairly unique :p

Build your own mate.

Lot cheaper.

I'm quite set on using the SS intercooler, but if there's a way of saving money on the pipework I'll be very interested.

but the SEAT Sport intercooler+Forge pipes comes to about £550. and it's a better intercooler than the current Forge one :)

really? Your evidence??

really? Your evidence??

Forge are currently developing a new "SEAT Sport style" intercooler

really? Your evidence??

read some stuff over on seat cupra . net

and they recon the seat sport one produces less soot / heat soak at high bhp... 220bhp +

:D

As above, there's one bloke who has actually replaced his forge with a seat sport, done a whole comparison thread, seat sport come out on top. Might also be why forge have been offering their kit to various members at a big discount

Any links to this review, could be an interesting read

How big is the Forge discount?

Currently having problems with them on a silicone pipe kit listed for my T5 sportline that doesnt fit

That's what I meant pal.

Apart from the MAP sensor pipe, they're all standard sized right?

If I go Seat intercooler, I'll have to build my own kit up anyway, as they only sell with blue hoses, and I hate colored silicone hoses.

Plus one.

Really intrested to see what's been measured.

I would like to swap my Forge out for a Seat, but not for the increae of power (As I believe it's negible), but simply because I'd rather have OEM parts on my car, rather than some tuning company....

I'm honestly not sure, but if that's the case then that's what I'd do. Anybody got a list of the pipework required (dimensions etc)?

Same here, I'd have normal black hoses given the choice.

right this will be miles better than the forge kit......

i'll number the items in the order they go... this will get you from the turbo right through

working away from the turbo....

1. 90 degree silicone bend 50mm

2. 80 degree stainless bend 50mm

3. Long silicone 50mm coupler (around 250mm long)

4. 90 degree stainless bend 50 mm

5. reducer from 57mm - 50mm.....

Intercooler ( i believe its 57mm outlets, but you should measure to confirm, may be 64mm)

6. reducer 57mm - 50mm

7. 45 degree stainless bend 50mm

8. straight coupler 50mm

9. 90 degree stainless / aluminium map sensor pipe (possibly phone up forge and get this item seperately?) or get a 90 stainless bend and get somewhere to make you a mounting point

10. 45 degree silicone reducer bend 50mm - 57mm

11. vRS Dovit top stainless intercooler pipe 57mm

12. 57mm 90 degree silicone bend

13. jabbasport 57mm egr delete

that will be miles better than the forge kit

Wow, thank you very much Jase! Just to be clear, what diameter would items 1, 2 and 4 be?

Already have 11 fitted, and 12 and 13 are on the way shortly.

all 50mm....(updated first post!!)

only ones that are different are the reducers to fit the intercooler, now im unsure if the intercooler is 57mm or 64mm but im sure you'll be able to measure it....

what you could probaly do is use 57mm pipe and bends throughout it....

although the turbo fitment is 50mm so number 1 you'll need a reducing bend from 57-50mm

the forge kit is 50mm

Brilliant, thank you. Now just to find somewhere and price it up ;)

ebay!!!

i would use stainless pipes and mikalor clamps!

yeah the stainless is heavy but it will far outlast the crappy aluminium!

Fair enough, I spotted an eBay seller you linked to in vRS Turbo's build thread, so that's a good starting point. And yeah, that makes sense. I'm not making a stripped-out lightweight track special or anything, it's a daily driver that I want to make a bit faster but keep reliable (hopefully) :)
