Flashing glow plug light

Featured Replies

Hi.

The glow plug light has started flashing on our Fabia. I'ts an 02, 1.9 non turbo diesel. 97500 miles on it. We've had no work done to it recently apart from me replacing a couple of bulbs in the back a few days ago.

The light only stated flashing this morning. When you start the car the light goes out as usual but then starts to flash after a minute or so. No other lights or symptoms, It starts fine and it seems to drive ok.

Has anyone got any ideas? I will be gratefull for any help.

Thanks, Chris.

It's probably the brake light switch. If you check, I think you'll find that all 3 brake lights appear to have failed. Change the switch, and all should return to normal.

This comes quite a lot, and it's usually either both brake light bulbs have blown or a faulty brake light switch.

You guys are good, just been outside to check, got no brake lights. To cold & dark to go any further tonight but I will investigate further tommorow.

If it is the switch & not bulbs is it an easy job to do?

There is a switch behind the brake pedal lever, you will need a new switch from the dealers and it's a 2 min fix

Sorted.

It was a blown fuse. There is a fuse dedicated to the brake lights, fuse number 2, 10 amp, in the dash fuse box.

Not sure why it chose now to go, it might have something to do with me changing some bulbs last week, I've gone through them all to make sure they're all seated ok now.

But I also had a dodgy trailer plug last week, it might have something to do with that.

Thanks for all your help, you've saved me a lot of head scratching & probably a trip to the garage.

Cheers & a happy new year to all.

Chris.

Can we get this pinned please?

Or can someone write something in the Tech guides?
