vRS Washer Bottle Warning Light

Featured Replies

I was caught out the other week whilst on the motorway, as I ran out of windscreen wash. This came as a surprise as I also own a Fabia Elegance TDI which has a windscreen washer low warning light. Given that I bought a top of the range vRS I thought it should have had one. I had a look around the bottle and was sure there was no float switch fitted. However my ever helpful main dealer (Ballamys, Shoreham) also expressed their surprise and offered to take a look. They plugged in their computer and "activated" the washer bottle warning light system. They told me that the light just stayed constanly on and thus declared that my car didn't have the system fitted. Un beknown to them they had just reveiled a crutial bit of information, i.e that the dash had the bulb fitted. Therefore what I want to do is to fit an Octatvia washer bottle which has a float switch in it (apparently they do exist) and connect the two wires from the float switch to the relevant place in the wiring loom. There in lies my problem. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for an Octavia that would show where the float switch connects into the loom?

That's a bit strange - is it a brand new VRS as they do have low washer fluid warning lights.

Given that I bought a top of the range vRS I though it should have had one.

There is your mistake...

VRS and below = no headlight washers, smaller washer bottle, no sensor...

Elegance and above = headlight washers, 5.5litre bottle, low warning sensor...

I'm sure our Octy VRS has one - I know the Furby does

Furby RS does, octy RS doesn't...

Furby RS does, octy RS doesn't...

Thinking about it Jools moaned that her washers had broke so that explains the lack of light.

I don't think 180 BHP for

Interesting point, in terms of "toys" does the fab RS have the most of any fabia?

I seem to recall the sensor and bottle are "bought together" - Jon French will be along shortly, he fitted the 5.5litre bottle to an RS...

(although he did it for an intercooler spray not headlight washers, and not sure if he connected the sensor.... )

is that because you've got xenon's? My 54 plate vRS doesn't.

My '54 Reg Fabia vRS has low washer bottle warning light and effing beeper, in this crappy weather i am filling the thing up every 2 days !!

No, the mistake was the statement quoted.. the RS octy isn't the top of the range, the L&K is, most expensive \ most toys etc...

:rofl: .............The L&K is the most comprehensively equipped Octavia .............The Octy vRS is the drivers car .................and the 4X4 Estate is for tractor drivers ............. :D

You just keep telling yourself that... :D

I assume you were telling yourself that when following me through the dales also, or were you muttering obscenities? Sorry, you were never close enough for me to lip-read. ;)

now now boys and girls...

the standard vRS does not have the sensor and comes with a 3.5ltr washer bottle. if you spec'd Xenons on the vRS it then comes with the washers on the bumper, a 5.5ltr bottle and the sensor to tell you when its low.

tbh i'd find something flashing and beeping at me a pain in the a*se, when the washers dont spray so hard i stop and fill the bottle... job done.

It's really annoying when you have "about" the level of the sensor, as it beeps loudly at you, then the light goes off, then half a mile later does the same......

You end up cleaning the screen and lights just to get the level below the sensor :D
