Intercooler questions

Featured Replies

Hi,

Couple of questions for you experienced VRS people on here,

Been searching and reading up on Fabia VRS Intercooler problems, and seem to have found that most problems are to do with the pipe "popping" off (Not actually a broken Intercooler).

Is it easy to access this pipe to check to see if it has just popped off, as I have the symptoms that many people have described. Do I have to take off the wheel arch inner lining, and access it from inside the wheel arch from behind, or can you see/feel it from underneath, if I jack it up ?

If it is not the pipe that has parted company, is a damaged/broken Intercooler likely ? (And next question, if I just get it replaced with the standard SMIC, would this be much cheaper than going for the better FMIC kits )

Interested in peoples views and their experiences. . .

Regards,

Ah, thanks for linky, exactly what I was looking for, but didnt find. :giggle:

Any ideas on pricing if Intercooler needs replacing with standard SMIC ? I've found some pricing on the FMICs.

Thanks for quick response !!

The plastic pipe connection broke at the top of my OE SMIC, had it done at Skoda dealers a year or so ago and all in cost about £300 including a new hose.

Call Ben at Shark Performance, he may have my relatively new SMIC lying around from when I had the Forge kit fitted.
