How easy is to adjust coilovers

Featured Replies

I am about to order some Weitec coilovers. I'm just wondering how easy is it to adjust the height once they're fitted.

Thanks

Easy peasy, you don't even need to take your wheels off.

Do you have to put the car up on a jack?

its easy enough to do, a ramp makes life easier though

yeah, if you jack the front up you can get in at the adjuster when the wheel drops down (I am basing this on the experience with my AP's, but I cant see there being any difference as there pretty much the same body).

As for the rears, depending how low you go you could maybe do them with the car on the floor? Although, just leave the rear adjusters out: nice n' low, plus no need to worry about adjustment...

How are you finding the APs? Should i save myself £70 and go for them.

Thanks. J

Absolutely fine; still more comfortable than lowering springs on standard shocks, and I've got mine pretty low. I'd say the ride is more comfortable than my mates civic type R standard suspension, but stiffer than standard vRS. I am on 17" wheels too.

Its only really on little fast hits you notice the stiffness, on smooth roads and larger undulations there really is no difference to standard in terms of comfort.

Couldn't really say about the weitecs, but don't know how they could be too much better.

Quick tips though: cut your bump stops down to around 2/3 their original length, and re-use the rubber accordian protector things that are on the front shocks.

Thanks very much.

Before fitting them give the splines a coat of grease so they don't rust and the platform sieze

The book on the Weitechs say to ajust the rear you need to unbolt the bottom of the shock to take the tension off the spring!

Weitecs are easy. Two spanners, easy!!!
