Wing mirror LED indicators

Featured Replies

i'm guessing i imagined it (as i've searched and searched and can't find anything!) but I was certain I read on here that if the LED indiciators within the "wing mirror housing unit" failed within 3 years (warranty scope), they'd be covered by warranty due to the nature that they are LED lights (or something like that) and should't fail

is that the case or has someone been putting drugs in my food?!?

You are correct.

The LED's are not replaceable so if they fail you have to replace the whole unit.

Providing that the lense or wing mirror hasn't got any obvious signs of damage or water ingress then this should be covered under your warranty

cheers silver - is there anything from skoda that could back this up? dealer keeps saying because its a bulb its' "wear and tear"

I've not seen anything from Skoda, just that a few members have had them replaced FOC under warranty.

The LED's are not like tratiotional filament bulbs that are designed to be replaced, they are sealed within the lense and cannot be replaced either by yourself or Skoda.

I can't see their wear and tear argument standing up on something that can't be accessed.

All I could find is this, but it does show some pictures of inside the wing mirror so that you can see that the lense just unplugs and is replaced with a new complete sealed unit...

From memory, the part doesn't cost too much and it's not too much of a faff to fit - once you've carefully removed the glass (it just pulls out), there are some small hex screws that need removing before the various components are removed.

i had initial discussions with the garage as soon as they alerted me to the issue (do indicators only go mental at you when it's either the front or rear bulb that's gone?), i mentioned at the time i was sure it was a warranty job, but he said he'd check but as it was a bulb it was probably wear and tear - ultimately, he got back to me and it is a warranty job so all good! :)

woohoo! :) thanks guys :)

Didn't know they were LED!! I was thinking the other day sitting in traffic how you would change the bulbs in them...now i know, you can't!!
