Lowering my Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have posted before about lowering my vRS - different options etc.

My main reason for the drop is simply to improve the looks and stop it looking like an off roader. The standard gap between the tyre and the wheel arch is terrible! I can't go too low, because I live down a bumpy track. I also want to keep this as cheap as possible, but having said that I don't want to use crap parts and waste my money. I used to have a Focus sat on Eibach springs (everything else standard) and that was exactly what I'm after.

So, I thought I might get just Eibach springs. But I've heard bad things about Fabia's just on springs.

Should I just do it? I know Coilovers are better, but I just don't think I can justify it for me...

I've had Eibach's on my car for 50k miles now, and no issues with the standard shocks. I'm still more than impressed with them, even better when coupled with an ARB.

tbh eibach springs are meant to give a better ride than the standard ones. also a nice drop. only reason i havent got them is because im young and immature and want my car dragging its bottom along so its coilovers for me :giggle:

Haha, I've have mine slammed if it wasn't for where I live. I doubt I'd get it out of the driveway without beaching it though if it was that low!

Right, Eibach's it is.

Any recommendations of where to buy? Any discounts etc.? They seem to have gone up since I bought them for my Focus :(.

best bet is to check on here see if there is any discount for freedom members. check out the site sponsors see what deals are going, think they were bout £160 before VAT increase.

Both the Eibach and H&R springs seem to work very well with the standard dampers on the VRS and as long as the mileage isn't too high on them you should be fine.

eBAY seems to be the cheapest place i've seen them.

Remember we always try and beat any cheaper price if possible.

Awesome also quote to beat any price

They tend to hold stock too ;)

But have you thought about the shockers to go with them?

To be fair Eibach will not improve the ride quality

as going lower will take that away , sorry :(

But I know Awesome have had a couple of vehicles in to have the lowering springs taken off because of poor ride quality

So may be worth going for something that has known to be good

see if you can go to a couple of meets and I am sure people will take you out in their vehicles that have been lowered ;)

Also be aware , shockers wear

50k miles , and putting lowering springs on , will kill them off , very very quickly

Sarah

I've got no issue with the Eibachs on mine just now. They were already there when I got the car and I'll be getting coilovers during summer but I've found them great on the standard shocks as they are.

I've just put Eibach springs on my Fabia TDi (non vRS) so will be interesting to see how long the standard shocks will last as the car is on 135k miles
