Is there any difference between Weitec Hicon GT and Weitec GT Coilovers

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking to buy some Weitec coilovers for my Fabia vRS. I've seen them listed as 'Weitec Hicon GT' and 'Weitec GT Coilovers' and sometimes the Hicons are £100 less. Is there any difference between them.

Here's the Weitec Hicon GT: http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/weitec-hicon-gt-coilover-suspension-kitbr-fabia-6y-12-14-14tdi-19sdi-19tdi-rs-19tdi-20-0300-p-1589.html

Here's the Weitec GT: http://froogle.motorsportworld.co.uk/framefix.asp?PID=1158086&ProductCode=W-13282011

Thanks,

J

The Hicon Kits have the adjustable rebound on the shocks normally - however i think they have been replaced with the GT coilovers as Weitec are made by KW now - and they didnt want a sister company out performing their kits - so the adjustable rebound has been dropped!

Thanks.

I take it that is a good thing?

I've had a look on the weitec website and they have Hicon GT and Hicon GTN but nothing with just GT.

Just guessing here but maybe the website has just missed the Hicon part off the description ???

Yep I think they just missed the 'Hicon'.

Just ordered my Weitecs. Can't wait to get them fitted!

Thanks,

J

The new sets dont have the name Hicon on them - as they are no longer made by the same company as they use to - Weitec use to make their own and were excellent (I had a set of the Hicon GT's on a Polo 6n when they cost £800+

The new ones are made by KW, and are just branded Weitec (different colour springs, zinc plated bodies etc)

My old set was down 100mm and was still fine for a 9 month pregnant wife to still feel comfortable - even when my first daughter arrived for 6 months!
