SIlicone Flexible Blade to Dry Car

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I just recently bought a silicone blade for quicker car drying, but since have read a few bad reviews about them.

Quick question is, are they safe on paintwork?

Thanks

Stu

I Wouldnt use one, if you get even a tiny amount of contamination caught in it, you'll end up dragging it across the paintwork and putting in hairline scratches.

As said, avoid body work but keep it for drying the glass

Aye as said use it for the glass and a waffle weave towel for the bodywork.

just used a waffle weave towel for the first time this afternoon. amazing.

you dont need a silicone blade when you have one of these.

just thrown all my chamois leathers away.

Blades work extremely well at removing water from both glass and paintwork, the problem is that the paintwork is far less resilient to being scratched by the minute particles of dirt that can hang onto the blade. If your paintwork is already 'swirled' from hand washing then with a good rinsing regime between wipes the blade probably wont do anything to make it worse. But if you're going to any trouble to 'dress' B) the paintwork then, as others have said, keep the blade for the glass.

Dont bother...Too risky

Decent drying towel everytime

Thanks guys.

Any links to a decent drying towel?

(Cheap ebay links also welcomed ;))

If you have a local 99p or £1 shop they normally sell large Microfibre Towels/cloths which do the same job at a fraction of the price - buy 2.

Thanks guys.

drying towel

If you live near a Costco they can be worth a try, they bring in some good clothes at reasonable prices.
