Hello and Welcome to the Forum. :hi:

Without going to Slacks, I would suggest Ron Turnbull in Middlesbrough. They are a VAG specialist. I've not used them, as I go to a place on the Moors. I've not heard any bad words for them.

thanks jim, i gave volkswerk a ring and they quoted me £295 plus vat with waterpump or £229 plus vat for the belt alone, got a friend in the motor trade who has quoted me with his discount £135 so i think that may well be worth going for!

slightly off topic but how does the vrs do on mpg? after returning 80mpg on an eco trip back from buying it, i think im persuading the father over to the vrs range!

I don't think the water pump is essential that it is changed (mine wasn't), however it is known to be prone for breaking, so most people change it. I am going to do it every other change. Whichever place you go, make sure they use the correct PD oil. There is a list on a sticky thread in the Fabia I section.

My vRS does 45-50 mpg per tankfull, It's did 57mpg on a long 300 miles motorway journey last year. We also have a 1.9TDI (100BHP) Fabia and that averages about 55-60 mpg per tankfull.

You might be right. I have a strange feeling that the SDI is not a PD engine, (I may be wrong). So I'm not sure what oil you should use.

I use Millers oil too. I buy it from Oak Road Motors in Redcar.
