Featured Replies

hi there, got a fabia vrs 06 plate, currently at 117k and having problems occasionally selecting reverse,1st and 2nd gears at times, seems to improve after engine has warmed up,anybody know what this could be,would appreiciate any help on this??many thanks.mick

think its just because its cold sometimes happens to me but i wouldn't say it was a struggle I'd say it was less smooth as it normally is.

hiya ryan, thanks for your reply,i thought it may be the weather too,but i vaguely remember it did it once or twice last year before the cold spell...so kinda think it may be gearbox oil,as one of my mates said it could be that??

I have this same issue on my 7 month old Fabia 1.6MPI 16v. I live in the Indian subcontinent where the weather rarely goes below 20C, at least where I stay. And I've still had this issue especially while slotting REVERSE. Since the car is under warranty, I took the Fabia to the skoda specialist garage, and they said it could be a gear switch problem. 2 days later, they call me and tell me that there's nothing wrong. However, since this problem does not exist all the time, I'm having trouble convincing the folks at the service center. And the geeks there tell me that I'm probably not clutching IN correctly. Heck! I've been driving since 10 years now and I've never faced this issue on both my previous cars.

I have the same problem, difficult in the cold and perfect when its warm. My Fabia VRS is on 101k (original clutch -motorway miles). I thought it cant be the alignment but I tried it anyway, in fact I've realigned the gear shifter twice now, and it hasn't improved.

I've also changed the G'Box oil, (genuine) and it also made no difference.

Problem solved.

Change the oil for a Fully Synth.
