Front Washer Jets - Blocked

Featured Replies

Before you all start flaming me i know i should have used the VAG screenwash but on this occasion im blaming the wife as its her car. The washer jets have basically gone to **** and now just blast lines of water at any random direction.

I removed them last week and soaked em for a few hours in some cilit bang hoping it might have just been a build up, however no joy they are still hopeless.

Anyone got any ideas on what i could soak em in to try and fix the problem. Also does anyone know anywhere that sells em cheap as I might be tempted to just replace them and put this one down to experience. They have done 3 yrs with halfords screenwash in so cant really complain :-)

Is using halfords screenwash/generic screen wash a bad thing? I usually dilute it close(ish) to the recommendations but never thought much of it! :S

I'd this a few years back. I switched to Halfords concentrate which said it had added water softeners and was suitable for fan jet washers. The jets quickly came back to normal.

So a switch to the VW stuff or Lidl, ("suitable for fan jet nozzles"), at the correct concentration, may not be too late. I believe citric acid is the chemical that actually softens the water- hence the advertised citrus scent?
