Interesting point on this is will they up the spec as is the norm or will they go the other way to fit in with VW aim to move Skoda more into the basement market? I hope it is the former but there have been worrying noises from VW.

...and evidence of penny pinching and downspeccing in some areas already - viz RRPack and carpeted boot sides for instance?

When you see 'new improved' on the box its not always the best to go for it....

or conversely ....What was wrong with the old model???

Generally its all to do with saving costs.

I would not be a long term Skoda owner if I thought they was dumbing down.
