3rd battery fuseboard gone wtf

Featured Replies

Hi guys

As the tittle says my 3rd battery fuseboard has gone on my 05 vrs I know this is any common issue

Can anyone shed any light on situation why or how this happens as I can't afford 2 keep replacing theses

Thanks dan

Have you replaced the alternator cable?? The cable corrodes internaly and causes a high resistance that heats the cable up, this in turn melts the fuse box

Spot on, the fusebox wont randomly melt for no reason.

I know from experiance, about a week after reading a post on here about it mine went, diagnosed it straight away.

Yeah I'm going to on thursday when I order a new board

How much are they and how hard are to fit ?

Thanks dan

Coast me under £80 for the fuse box and the alternator cable, took me under 30 mins to fit it. It's abit fiddly to get the cable to alternator and i left one clip undone as it was really hard to get to
