MkIV Golf door lock

Featured Replies

I'm edging closer to finding the solution to my central locking issues. Would a door lock form a MkIV Golf fit the Octavia? If so, life would be a bit easier. A friend has offered for me to strip his door on his MkIV GTTDI Anniversary Golf and see if the door lock cures the issue. However, I don't want him to go to this trouble if there's no compatability with the Skoda.

Yes.

But be careful as a few revisions seem to have happend. I matched one up to my VRS from a golf but ended up just using microwitches and a few other bits, until i damaged the microswitch transferring it over  . The little nob on the switch that controls the cambered wheel in the lock breaks and this is also part of the reason the door shows itself open because the switch is not making contact with that cambered wheel. I then got a switch from RS component and did a DIY guide on here to replace it. I won't do that job again as it was a PITA job.

These locks are too over engineered and if they go wrong i will replace the whole lock mechanism next time.

By the way your friend must be a good friend as removing the whole lock asm takes a while to get to and fiddly.

Here is the guide i did, which may help you remove the lock from your friend golf.

Thanks for the info. He is a good bloke, spent two hours last night looking at the wiring for me. He's not even my friend really, but the son of a colleague who heard of my plight and offered to help. Amazing.

Anyway, Skoda told me this morning that the part number is 3B2837016-T. The local VW dealership has one in with the same part number, but the price is the same - £117 inc VAT! :S He said rather than pay out all that money, try his and see if it makes any difference. You're right though, it's fiddly but he is a mechanic by trade, so might be quicker than me.
