Ordered Greenline II

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am returning to the fold after 15 years in the car buying wilderness.

I had several rear engine skodas (120 /130 and a Rapid ) back in the day.

I have had a succession of small sporty cars and now a 100hp panda but with the price of fuel going up its time to grow up a bit.

Which is a long way round to saying I have ordered a Fabia Greenline II.

Delivery time is mid April.

The car is quite well equipped for the money but I dipped into the options for ;-

MF steering wheel with small leather pack

Heated seats

Maxi-dot

Sun set glass

I saved the money on paint and went for White paint.

Great choice on the options. I did the same as you on my last two cars and spent the money on options rather than paint. I think White looks pretty good in any case.

The way fuel is going cars like yours may be the only option soon! Bet it will hold its value well.

Welcome back

Welcome back...I like your choice. Please keep us all up to date with how it goes once you get it. Cheer bud!

I did the same. White Greenline II in white with a few options.

Do you know when the car is likely to arrive?

I am currently averaging 72mpg on the display, but I won't know how accurate that is until I drain the tank and fill it again.

Still on my first tank of diesel, so it's running in.

I did the same and went for white using the metallic paint to add electric rear windows and parking sensors.

I see they have increased the options for the hatch against the estate.

I am in my town driving months at the moment and I am getting 54 mpg and my engine has yet to get to the first 1000 miles - not far now.

Hope you really like your Greenline II when you get it.

As an interest I used the Pakers Petrol Vs Diesel and if you compare the Greenline II with it's petrol siblings the answers are a bit surprising.

With my original faulty engine I did a 75 mile run to Leicester using dual carriageway and motorway in eco mode travelling at 50mpg and the Maxi dot read 75mpg . I have worked out my system is 5% out and that make the real figure around 71mpg. It was very late when we came back and I had a heavy left foot and got 60Mpg allowing for the 5% variance.

Now some on here would scoff that's not good, but for two things the journey was done inside the formal 1500 KM ( 930 miles) run in period and the engine was actually incorrectly made resulting in a complete replacement under guarantee.

Interesting that CT17 is getting similar mpg.

Mind you come march most weekends I will be driving the car across country boarders into a foreign land to North Wales where I have a caravan :p

Yes, driving in and out of London to work I am getting between 70 and 72 every day, except tonight traffic was a little light and I got 76mpg.

This is my first tank and the engine has now done 460 miles. But I am sticking to a top speed of 65mph, not that I can go much faster anyway with the road conditions.

It'll be interesting to see if the engine loosens up a bit.

Curious how accurate the mpg figure is on the dash too. On the Yeti over 1000 miles it was less than 1% out.

I popped into the dealers today.

My car is being built week 11 so should be here mid to late april.

I ordered mine 10 Nov, the same week they released the hatch for ordering, and found out that many of the hatch options are available on the estate even though not listed as such. Specified Maxi-dot display, full size alloy spare, silver metallic paint, curtain airbags (2000 miles a month with children on board) and various other options. It is being built this week, due end of March.

Yes, similar prices but I guess you choose what suits you best.

SE is more powerful and the engine is probably more flexible in day to day use with mixed driving.

It also comes as standard with the leather controls I believe, rather than the cheap plastic steering wheel etc...

Road tax is cheap enough, not much more than the free VED of the Greenline II.

It's also in a higher insurance group as it's more powerful.

Greenline II includes the following equipment you have to add to the SE spec to get the same car:

Cruise Control: £175

Front Fog Lights: £165

ESP (a must IMO): £365

Tyre Pressure Monitor £100

It is less powerful, but I find it surprisingly refined considering it's a 3cyl.

But to me personally it's more of a cruising car for people who do higher milages to benefit from the better economy.

I went for the Greenline II as 70% of my driving is at a constant speed on motorways and A roads.

Plus it spends some time in London where having a CO2 output under 100g/km is an advantage for things like the congestion charge.

If I didn't do so many miles I'd have bought something else.

Hi tony2311,

You should drive a GL2 and a 1.6 CR and see which you prefer.

At the end of the day what ever floats your boat.

Dealer in sheffield hasnt got a GL2, drove the 75hp amd it is a bit underpower, looking to order very soon a 1.6 cr 105bhp with comfort pack, sat nav, maxi dot, cruise and spare wheel

just one thing the satnav says it

'Amundsen' satellite navigation system and Maxi-dot

does it mean i got maxidot already or is it is something different

Hi tony2311,

Is completely your money and your choice but I would seriously consider getting the Elegance over an SE. It comes with all elements of the confort pack, maxi dot and cruise. It also has nicer wheels, trim and something I think it quite important - curtain airbags. It's just me but i've never really understood why people seem to preference the SE with an option pack over the Elegance as theres very little difference in cost between the two in the grand scheme of things and the Elegance is nicer.

As nice as the Amundsen Sat Nav is, I dont think i'd bother with it personally. Is alot of money to spend on something which is no better at navigating than a decent TomTom or Garmin. Doesnt even do full postcode searches. It's more asthetically pleasing than it is functional. I'd personally use that money to put other useful options on the car like ESP, MDI, maybe Bluetooth that sort of thing. I think what the "+ maxi dot" means is that you'll get maxi-dot FOC if you chose the Amundsen so no need to spec it separately.

Just been told my greenline 2 is built! Now have to wait for delivery...

Hi burl, did you go for a hatch or estate? How long was your buildtime? Thanks

Dropped into the dealers today my car in the port of Emden I am now getting realy excited.

Hmm, not sure I agree about the satnav.

It's true you get the maxi dot included, so if you take the option price for this from the sat nav price ( £437.50 - £129.87) the integrated nav is a mere £307.63. A decent Tom Tom is still £150 so that's £157.63 for the following:

No unit slapped on the windscreen

No leads draped over the car for power/external gps

Better full colour display for your phone and iPod functions

Smarter looking interior

3year warranty on the unit against tom toms 1 year

Pretty reasonable to me
