Hi guys.....just installed a Sony xplode Mexbt3800u....

Loving the headunit......but there is no AM reception at all .. :wonder:

But my old Sony (horrid thing) and current Pioneer fail to get anything other than FM too.

You'll need to add an aerial amplifier into the mix. The OEM amplifier is located in the aerial base on the roof and was powered by the OEM headunit down the aerial cable. No aftermarket headunit can power this amp, so you need to add an aftermarket one between the headunit and the aerial cable.
