Audi RS3

Featured Replies

For the money, for this sort of car, my money would be across in Munich, for a 1M Coupe B)

Agreed.

Really don't know how they can justify that price for the RS3.

BMW have fitted a bespoke and highly complex engine and the complete rear axle (complete with LSD) from the E92 M3 into the 1M. Thta's serious development costs.

As far as I can see Audi have just dropped in the lump from the TT and widened the front track a tiny bit. Not really sure how they can justify chanrging the same as a 1M. Completely unexciting in my opinion.

I've driven the TTRS and the engine is just fantastic.

However for £40k and presumably still needing a decent wedge spent on optional extras to bring it up to a £40k standard the power output is too low for me. Power wise its being squeezed between the cheaper Focus RS and the similarly priced Cosworth Scoobie.

For £40k I'd expect at least 400bhp, with a remap you can get it but you are risking your warranty...

Still once they get one a bit I'm expecting to see plenty of engine swaps with the rest of the VW group, hitting at least 500bhp.

Evo's are not loud or laggy!!!!! My 6 was a little unrefined, but go drive a X its as civilised as any car can be

the only EVO i drove was an EVO X FQ300. Fast as fook when at full revs, but it was dead under 3k IMO. Suburu WR1 is same IMO. they are designed to be used at full revs all the time. Steering was sublime though.

An example on the WR1. Couple of mates of mine. one in a stage 2+ Cupra (330HP), and the other in a 335hp WR1 had a few runs against each other. off the mark flat out they were nigh on identical. from low revs 30mph in 4th gear the cupra just drove off pulling about 6 car lengths by the time they hit 3 figures (we have a run way @ our work BTW), whilst the impreza was still trying to come on boost. Poorly matched turbos for day to day use IMO.

Point being the 2.5TFSI suffers none of this yet still makes power alll the way up until 7k before dropping off. very impressive engine

got to say it appeals to me, way out of my budget sadly, however, lovely 2.5 note, 350hp, good tuning potential too. And in my case 5 drs for the family!

fair enough, might have to go and look at the RS3, just to have a play and see what all the fuss is about this engine
