Well i am after VCDS for personal use on my wee lupo gti....

things im after doing...

1. changing the locking procedure so it unlocks on one click of the button (all doors)

2. adding a beep to the locking door procedure

3. scanning faults as my abs light comes on now and again and id like to know what sensor i need to replace

the only computer i have that is mobile is a notebook?

which vcds is for me and any links to all the equipment i will need, looking for something as cheap as possible cheers

If it is only going to be on older cars (pre mk5 golf) you will only need to download vcds lite here: http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.html

You will need to buy an activation license and a cheap obd-II dongle from ebay. Or to be safe that it will definately work then a K-II USB dongle from Ross-Techwith a copy of full vcds http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=VCKII&Category_Code=VAGCOM

If you are going to be using it on post 2004 vehicles as well as older cars than http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=VCHUC&Category_Code=IC along with full vcds is what you will have to buy.

its going to be used on an 02 plate lupo GTI

so i only need vcds lite?

then all i do is buy a lead?

and do i need an activation license for vcds lite?

If that's a model year 2002 with the 7 and 8th digits of the VIN 6E or 6X it does not use CAN bus to communicate to a scan tool.
