Glovebox light

Featured Replies

Bacically I was changing the bulb to a nice white led one, but for some reason when I pulled the light (holder) out the front came off and the spring came out! :wall:

Now the question is does anyone have a photo of the light mechanism so I can put it back together correctly?

Your photos were a God-send, but I am still stuck. I've orientated the spring as per your photos, but there is no tension in it to keep the two hooks above the designated metal plates. Also, when I reassemble it, the black tab doesn't move freely. Time to raid the scrapyard?

As you can see from my post I did it too - those photos are a godsend.

Basically, the spring has to be rotated nearly 270 degrees in situ to get the tension required. A little fiddly, but perfectly do-able

Thank you, Benjiman!!

Never again will I scoff at the simplest of mechanisms!

Got a link to the bulb you bought?

I typed '31mm led' on the bay and found a variety of strengths and colours. I went for this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280715931355&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Its really dim though...not very pleased. How do you tell the brightness of LEDs? They only ever rate their power consumption...nothing about the output.
