gona have sum1 to ave alook see whats causing it...i'll keep u in mind ta.

ISTR the 6-speed box has two final drives, making 5th and 6th a bit like 3rd and 4th with overdrive. Doesn't explain why 2nd is noisy too, though...

2nd is no where near as bad as 4th an 6th..

Yikes! Its the power i smashed mine at 220bhp

Its all part of the tuning game...Tune it,Break it,Fix it,Repeat :giggle:

It could be the bearing on the end of one of the shafts..

There were 2 types of gearbox, the earlier box, with the metal end to the input shaft is a lot stronger than the later box with the plastic end, we've seen 1 failure in the past with high torque on the gearbox with the plastic end.

Difficult to describe.

IIRC the metal end has a taper bearing and the platic end they changed it to a cheaper roller bearing, its the roller bearings that collapse and fire them out of the end and that is on the main shaft that carries 6th gear I think.

TBH even on standard cars they do give up from time to time.

That's the one, couldn't remember which shaft it was.. Cheers Ross

it was fine untill mid morning when all of a sudden its started making some loud rattling noises every time it went in 4th/6th...not as bad in 2nd but in 1st/3rd/5th no probs...

Bit scary. I was always under the impression the gearbox was, to coin a phrase, bullet proof. I guess the older one was?
