Fault Codes Not Listed.

Featured Replies

I have VCDS and apart from doing an full scan I dont know how to use its many features and wouldnt even attempt to do anything more thecnical then a scan.

My question is. On a couple of occasions a full scan is throwing up some fault codes that arent list on the RossTech wiki or any search's on the web.

How do I find out more information about the fault codes?

Thanks in advance.

What are the fault codes, that would be a pretty good start.

  • Author

The 2 most current fault codes I cant find listed are:

012599 - Intake Manifold Runner Control: Basic Setting not Completed

P3137 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

001602 - Sensor Reference Voltage A: Circuit: Low

P0642 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

I've had other codes as well so thought it was best just to ask in general how you find out more info on codes not listed.

If you can offer any help that would be appreciated

For info only if anyone does a search in the future.

Just had a very quick reply from RossTech.

They suggest that if the fault code isnt listed this what you should do:

Run a full autoscan and submit the that to us:

Thank you.

Yes, often times fault codes are not listed in the repair manual. The Ross-Tech Wiki does not contain every single VAG (VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda) fault either.

When registered customers need assistance with a specific fault code we ask for a complete Auto-Scan from the vehicle. This allows us to see details regarding which modules are installed in the car, how they're currently coded and what the full fault code descriptions are. Often times we can evaluate software levels (for TSB's, dealer flash updates or known problems) and this gives us a good feel for the car itself including Model Year, Engine, Transmission and Body configuration including minor differences between a convertible or hardtop for example . Country or Market details also help including LHD or RHD.

Normally, if a forum member or customer only sends/posts fault codes without any of the other data I cannot accurately answer. In this case, I'm in a Skoda forum so the brand is self explanatory but I don't know what engine this car has in it.

Keep in mind the US does not have the Seat or Skoda brands at all and without the model year I'm pretty limited. If I saw a scan with a 2.0TSFI engine I could quickly relate to the US spec. 2010 VW Gti I drive daily... and worked on all of those years at the VW dealer replacing IMRC motors and running recall flashes. In that case I could offer some additional (personalized) assistance beyond posting the following links ;)

Hi Dana, (are you Czech by any chance?)

Thank you for a comprehensive answer. I was also impressed with the very quick reply I had last night from Jef at RossTech.

I will post the full autoscan and the vehicle details on the RossTech forum.

For info my car is a Skoda Octavia 2006 2.0 TFSI Hatch, Manual with a custom remap. All the other mods and not engine related.

Thanks again for your guidance.

Hi,

My father's side of the family tree isn't well know. I was always told I was 50/50 Italian and Russian but based on some more recent holiday conversations apparently there was a discrepancy about my (father's) grandparent's actual origin and Slovakia was mentioned. If that's the case ... Czech wouldn't be impossible.

Thanks for the scan and info. This BWA looks identical to the US BPY I mentioned. I believe the SW update was already done on your vehicle, and even if the dealer has a newer version this vehicle is chipped so you wouldn't want to overwrite that. IMO that recall/RVU didn't "fix" the IMRC faults anyway, the cars returned days later with the same IMRC fault codes.

The newest IMRC adjuster unit appears to be 06F-133-482-E. Your model appears to have the same linear super-session B -> D -> E and my best guess is that you have the early (problematic) version installed. If you haven't done so already try the basic settings listed here before throwing any parts at it:

WOW, Thanks Dana,

I know its written in English but that has gone stright over my head

I'm no mechanic but I will follow the link you have posted and continue to work on the codes.

In basic terms are the 2 codes something I need to worry about getting fixed or can they be ignored for the time being?

Dana is defo a name i've come across a lot in Czech/Slovak (we even have some friends with the same name). I dont recall it being a russian name but it could be

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.

I thought you caught my last name, Smetanick. Either way that's kind of an unknown ;)

If the IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) is dodgy you may have problems in the future. That would include limp mode, MIL on, Air/Fuel trim issues, or stalling at idle at worst. It won't make the engine Blow Up or anything crazy.

See if that Basic Settings will run after clearing fault codes. If it won't run properly or the codes come back you may want to replace it or check the part numbers I listed with the dealer.
